I have all of these, some in CE and some in SE and think this was the most disappointing of them all, as well as the shortest. There were parts I enjoyed and many I did not. The characters are very cartoonish, shallow, and unconvincing. They came across in an extremely juvenile manner. The voices are the biggest turn off about them, especially Miriam's, whose was so whiney and phony. I got sick of listening to her. It was like finger nails on a blackboard, so I muted the voices.
There are only so many story lines that can be used, so I didn't mind the story and dealing with the duos, even though I thought it was lacking and childish. The dynamics of gameplay is what takes precedence over the story for me.
The graphics are excellent and atmospheric and typical of this series. You are not overwhelmed with the collecting of inventory for everything. You have the option of choosing your character. There is the clicking on of conversations, which is an annoyance because it is senseless and makes no difference in this game and is also time consuming. The going back and forth was not in excess. There didn't seem to be that many scenes, so maybe that is why they added all of the conversation and puzzles, so it would lengthen what should have been a longer and more quality game had they put more effort into this.
There were some full HOS that were quite good, but they were outnumbered greatly by all of the mundane mini games. There were a few mini hos that are nothing but a waste....finding a few items. There are only a few items in them to begin with, so they are right there in front of you. It cheapens a game.
Too much of the gameplay is taken up with the mini games, which I highly disliked having an overabundance of. You're either doing them or skipping them. It was too many, often one right after another, taking up so much time in what is a very short game. Even though many of them are quick and doable, it was still excessive. It takes away from the story as well as the gameplay, creating an imbalance.
Your collectibles are very limited in the CE version. There are piggy banks to find that deliver coins that you can use to buy mechanical toys for a mechanical cat. It is not very impressive. There are also some morphs which I care nothing about. Unless you can see them, you spend your time staring at a screen becoming almost hypnotized, which is not my idea of a good time. I neglected to even try to find them.
Probably the biggest disappointment of all is the incredibly short length of the Bonus...unbelievable. It is not CE worthy nor worth the price for it. It is a cheat. The BC was nothing but a few new scenes....nothing new or different to add to the story....had a few added hos (one was a stencil that was very interesting and creative). There were too many mini games... one where you are mixing a multi potion, which I hate. It consumed even more of that short BC time.
The SE is sufficient just fine as the main story ends well without the unnecessary BC in the CE, which to me was just a continuation of the same story and ending. There isn't anything adequate to warrant this as a CE worthy game, particularly the lack of a proper length for the entire game, so I think the SE is a better buy.
There are better games and worse games. I think this one falls in between the two. Graphics and atmosphere alone do make it enjoyable. Show less

Today's your lucky day Puppet Master Miriam! All you need is Faith, a willing Puppet, a dash of Blue Crystal, and the flip of a switch to become immortal. It didn't work too well for Dr. Frankenstein, but then again, he didn't have that magical blue crystal either! Looks like you got her just in time Detective/Journalist/Adventurer (insert name______) because your PuppetMonster just got dragged to the PuppetUnderworld and who knows what's going to happen to your PuppetSoul there! One thing is for sure, that barking dog in the distance has followed you to yet another PuppetShow!
Faith in the future I must say isn't as horrible as the last few games have been, but I really do believe the "PuppetShow" has run its course. There's just nothing more this series can cover, so they are just creating spinoffs of the other plots. Once again, you get to choose the character you want to portrait within 3 categories, Detective, Journalist & Adventurer, and each category has a male and female character available. There are several Conversation choices you can choose from when communicating with each character, however, they are basically the same question so you're going to get the same answer no matter which you choose, so why do they bother to include a feature that doesn't affect the outcome?
The best feature this particular game had going for, unfortunately, is only available in the CE version, Slow Morphing Mask outlines, but, if the slow morphing object was a different object instead of the same mask outline, it would have made the morphing object so much harder to spot, but kudos to Amax on a job well done with this CE feature. The CE also has collectible Piggy Banks, but they are only located in some of the scenes. (allows you to purchase items created by Miriam) This "virtual" scenario has never particularly thrilled me because its moot, there's no rhyme or reason to it. I did like the feature in the pit and the pendulum which had collectible cards with a brief description of the various "bad guys" in a "before" scenario. To learn about the "now" scenario, you had to find all 3 Morphing Objects shown at the bottom of each card to unlock the current situation of that person, to me, that was a really creative feature that gave rhyme and reason to the collectible.
The Hidden Object Scenes are varied with Interactive List finds, Silhouetted Shape finds, Multiple Item finds, finding Items that match Icon Swatches. Most of them uncover fragments to collect which opens up a chest or box for the final piece, but several items are very small and may be difficult for some to see or recognize. There are several Zoom Zone HOS that have just a handful of silhouetted shape finds or Listed Items to find as well, but no alternate puzzle is offered.
The Mini-Games are mostly swap type puzzles which in itself isn't all that bad, however, most of those swap type puzzles have a feature where the puzzle piece turns green when it's placed correctly making it impossible to struggle with. All you have to do is swap until it turns green, you don't have to even look at the picture! Here's a list of brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1-Select 2 panels to swap to complete the lock picture.
2-Select 2 puzzle tiles to swap to complete the crystal picture.
3-Swap hexagon tiles to light up each light connectors.
4-Swap outer flower petals to match the inner flower petals.
5-Select each symbol portion to match the symbol shown.
6-Select lock rods in the correct order by trial and error.
7-Select 2 fan sections to complete the pattern.
8-Select 2 tokens at a time to find matching pairs.
9-Place shield fragments into the highlighted sections.
10-Find matching pairs by flipping 2 tiles which rotate if incorrect.
11-Swap 3 panels to form continuous paths for the flowers to travel.
12-Place tokens into their matching pattern centers.
The Collector's Edition version has 10 Wallpapers, 14 Concept Art pictures, 6 Screensavers, 11 Movie Videos, 5 Music Soundtracks, 11 re-playable Mini-Games, 14 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 16 Achievements to earn, 26 Morphing Masks, 58 Collectible Coins to buy 13 Items created by Miriam, 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter.

Your friend, Miriam, has sent you an invitation to her home. Her letter was barely coherent and you are worried about her.
Before you can even enter the house, you have to solve puzzles and collect masks to get through the door. Your troubles have only just begun.

Good stuff: There are puzzles galore, a bit of variety in the HOPs, the usual artwork we expect from this series, and minimal story. At least they kept this new PS as an SE.
Bad stuff: There will be the usual bits of confusion that seem to pepper these games along with the expected plot twist that also seems to run to the mundane.
Bottom line: You will have a very good idea of where you are headed by the end of the Demo. At that point you just need to decide if you want to follow through or retire to the sidelines.
I wasn't impressed with anything I saw in the game. It is barely mediocre for an SE.
I pass.
