Moonsouls The Lost Sanctum is the 3rd game in the Moonsouls series and this one takes the blue ribbon. This game simply blew me away and I loved it!
The Lost Sanctum is a quality piece of art and yes, even I found the game to be a bit short although it took me almost six hours to complete. I tend to play slowly as I have to take in every detail in the scenes and it did slow me down a bit.
The gameplay kept me absorbed through the bonus chapter, which isn’t always the case with other games. The storyline was fascinating, and I needed to find out how it all ended. The quality of this game is amazing from the HOPS to the puzzles. The HOPS are beautiful – something that stands out because so many other games have drab junkpiles to sort through by comparison. We have so few sci-fi games offered here at BFG and I think there is a big market for them because many of us who love playing HOPA games are from the Star Trek era and love the Sci-fi genre – just saying.
The HOPS are out of this world, and a developer finally got it right by creating so many wonderful and beautiful HOPS in a game. The styles vary but each HOP stands on its own as being creative and full of details that I love. Even the puzzles are excellent, although there were one or two that I immediately skipped because I disliked the particular type of puzzle. For me it was a wonderful turn of events to have the puzzles take back seat to the HOPS in the game. I love finding hidden objects and that is what drew me to BFG in the beginning all those years ago. BFG was the first company to offer so many wonderful HO games while other companies focused more on puzzles with only an occasional HOPA, which is why I have been a member here since 2006. I have never become tired of the genre and Moonsouls The Lost Sanctum is one of the best and most beautiful games in recent years.
Yes, the game might be short, but it was absolutely perfect for me! Thank you Mad Head Games for creating a wonderful, quality game! Even though this game was an instant purchase for me, I recommend that you try the demo to see if Moonsouls The Lost Sanctum is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming! Show less

I really liked this game but when it ended I was like "Are you kidding me!?" I couldn't believe it was over, as I had only played 2-3 hours. It was the shortest game I've ever played. I'm glad I got it with a coupon. This is definitely a game worth getting because it is fun but I do recommend using a coupon or credit to buy it due to the length.
I recommend this game!

This is the MadHead I knew when I first started playing these games! I really like this game. The sci-fi element, puzzles that are not overly complicated and actually fit the task at hand. The map is helpful but you don't have to wander too far to complete the objective.
I recommend this game!

Welcome to Sanctum, The City that rules a Thousand Worlds. A city of technology light-years ahead of all known planets. A City young Isaac never knew existed until today, unfortunately, Sanctum has been destroyed by someone or something. All that remains intact is a single component of the incredible planetary network system, Nal'dax, a conscious robot. Isaac soon discovers that Sanctum is just the tip of the intergalactic iceberg and his journey may just answer questions he never knew had answers.
MHG had lost its mojo lately, but this game has renewed my faith, Sci-fi is their wheelhouse and Moonsouls is a fantastic sci-fi! Yes, it's a short game, but they trashed all of the cliche tasks (except for one angry swarm of hornets) added really interesting HOP's, fun puzzles, and a fresh new plot. At no point in time did I become weary or bored playing this game, which is more than I can say for nearly all of the recent HOPA releases where I'm doing the same thing over and over, chapter after chapter, wondering if it will ever end. A game doesn't have to be lengthy to be enjoyable, quite the opposite if a game is 7-8 hours long but all I'm doing is ditching a tool in one scene only to discover I need to find the same tool again to complete the same kind of task, what's the fun in that?

The CE version has the familiar MHG Spiral Signs, some are cleverly hidden, others not-so-much. The CE version also has Morphing Objects in every scene as well as within the Hidden Object Scenes, The HO morphs are very challenging but they made the scene morphs way too obvious because the objects they morphed into were objects that looked way out of place in the scenery. Because of the ease of spotting collectibles and morphs, I would probably recommend holding off for the SE version if you prefer collectibles to be more challenging.
There are a few Gadgets, 2 of which are only used in the first chapter when wearing a diving suit, a Hook and a Clamp that's used 3 times each and doesn't involve a repetitive mini-game. You also use a Moonsouls Glove 5 times, but it doesn't involve a mini-game either. I'm not a fan of gadgets but these aren't annoying at all.
There are 13 Hidden Object Scenes +3 in the CE Bonus Chapter, as well as a few Zoom Zone hop's. I'm rarely impressed with HOP's nowadays because they are just soooo easy, but I absolutely loved these! They were located in interesting locations and most were very sci-fi or bright and colorful. My favorites were finding items that Matched Swatches, finding 2 of each item, Symbol Finds (very challenging) and a Mushroom Pair Match. There are also Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Fragmented Silhouetted Shape Finds, Related Item Finds, and Symbol Finds. In the Collector's Edition version, each HOP scene has a very challenging Morphing Object to find, and you can play the replayable HOP's to pick up Morphs you may have forgotten to look for, as well as some Achievements.
There are 11 Mini-Games +2 in the Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter. There are 3 or 4 scenes where you have to find and replace items to progress the story but these are not listed as mini-games or HOP's according to the CE Strategy Guide. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games I loved:
☽ Drag the diver through a maze while avoiding dangers and sea creatures.
☽ Find items and interact with the components to unlock the diary. დ
☽ Rotate & position the blank canvas form which will eventually have to fit 3 different patterns. დ
☽ Fill and/or empty vats to fill the energy tube exactly 4 units. დდდ
☽ Rotate triangle sections to move the ball to the end without colliding with the unmovable triangle.
The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter is an average length chapter that takes place over 7 scene locations. You play as Chief Shard who goes to Priora to seek her newfound friends' help when a disease spreads rapidly throughout the Guardians. There are 3 Hidden Object Scenes and 2 Mini-Games available, and you will pick up the remaining 7 Spiral Signs, 7 Scene Morphs, and 3 HOP Morphs.
The Collector's Edition version has 12 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art Pictures (w/ before-after slider bar) 10 Music Soundtracks, 11 Achievements (6 have 3 categories) 16 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 44 Morphing Objects (16 within the Hidden Object Scenes) 28 Collectible Spiral Signs, 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

I was not sure about this game to start but the more I played the more I was taken into this world. Interesting storyline, good graphics, the voice overs are a little irritating and once you get to the Sanctum not sure why the blue people have Russian accents but - - - -
I enjoyed the demo and bought the game.

This really is a five star game, except it just didn't last long enough. Great graphics, great story and thoroughly enjoyable. Based on reviews, I used a coupon for the standard game, although I think I would have liked to have played the bonus game in the CE. I do agree, however that it is too short, even with a bonus game to warrant the price of a CE.

While there is the element of good vs evil, it's not the usual in-your-face focus on evil that most BFG games offer. Isn't the world today evil enough?
I do plan on getting the CE of the Echos of the Past, and though some reviewers mention a third one, I don't see it in the BFG menu of games
Would love to see more of this series. Beautiful little game that I will enjoy playing again. Something I seldom do with a great many CE games I've purchased. Show less
