I'm very partial to the classic style HOGs and will demo any that come along. I look for that gripped and hooked feeling, the surprise that time has flown when the demo ends. Death in the Alley ticked all those boxes.

The HOG scenes are dark, which makes the game atmospheric. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I've seen darker and didn't have a problem finding the objects, eventually! For me, the most difficult to find were the two special items but that just adds to the challenge.
I enjoyed the mini-games, familiar types, but themed, adding that bit of difference.
All in all, this is a buy for me. Show less

If you are interested in just hidden objects with a few mini games then this game is for you. It has a old school feel but there a lot of hidden objects in the game and it flows nicely. We play it about 15 minutes before we decided to buy it because we always wait for games like this to become available. The developers do a good job try to make games to please everyone. Thanks for this one!!
I recommend this game!

Just fun. Yes, it's a throw back! But I needed something laid back right now and this fills the bill. So I gave it five stars for the nostalgia factor! And it does have "collectibles" and puzzles, along with three levels of difficulty. Thank you!

I've always loved a good old-fashioned Hidden Object Game (HOG) the kind of game we cut our teeth on back in the day, but with better graphics and at least somewhat of a story. Classified: Death in the Alley will not blow the socks off of everyone, the graphics are darker to give the game an ambiance, and the objects to find are somewhat smaller to find, but there are different difficulty modes as I'll explain in a few, specialty objects to find in each scene, and mini-games that help you truly analyze the clues you have discovered in those murderous alleys, so keep an open mind, you may enjoy it too!
You can play in three different Difficulty Modes:
*Easy Mode: A Relaxed, Untimed mode with no misclick penalties and the Hint features recharge in 10 seconds.
*Medium Mode: A Mid-range difficulty mode with misclick penalties and a 20-second hint refill charge.
*Hard Mode: A timed mode with misclick penalties and a 45-second refill charge.
The Map shows available pinned area locations to visit, each scene has 3 available HO modes, Listed Items, Scrambled Words, and Missing Vowels. There are 18 Hidden Objects to find in each scene and I thought the developer did an amazing job of either hiding the objects in plain sight, or slightly out of the line of sight, I literally stared intently for quite some time for a few of the items only to have that "oh, duh" moment, lol. There are two Hints available, the Magnifying Glass will show you a single random item, and the Eye Hint inverts the colors and turns all remaining items on the list to white. The Hints will then have to recharge depending on the timeframe of whichever difficulty mode you chose to play in.
The best part, in my opinion, is finding the two additional "Clues" that aren't shown on the list, but there is a Folder Icon at the top of the screen that keeps track of the Evidence and Clues found. Each scene has a single blue Fingerprint "Clue" and a single "Singularity" Evidence (which looks like a UFO or Saturn?) You must find both of these to earn all three stars. If you miss one, or both, you won't be able to return to the scene to search for them until after you complete the game, so my suggestion is that you search for these items first before finding anything else.
After discovering a specific amount of Evidence and Clues in the Hidden Object Scenes, you will visit the Puzzle Lab Icon to play a mini-game such as a jigsaw puzzle. I'm talking about a decent jigsaw puzzle that actually makes sense, piecing together evidence. After piecing together the evidence you may have to spot the differences between two pages, to check for similarities.
I enjoyed the HO's and the mini-games. The objects may be small and the scenes may be dark, but it's a murder mystery and sure beats the last crime scene HOG game where the items were the size of a couch and you had to keep repeating the scene a thousand times. I have a lot of respect for this indie developer, well done Seven Sails! Show less

but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this little whodunit game. The hidden objects were not so easy to find. The two additional items to discover in each scene were difficult at times. Remember to find them right when you begin each scene. If you overlook them and fail to earn the 3 stars, there is no opportunity to return to the scene to continue looking. You have to wait until you have finished the game. They were very well blended into the surroundings. The graphics being a little dark and all the objects small and not brightly colored, created a decent challenge.
I loved that the jigsaw puzzles were not the usual rinky-dink thing that a toddler could assemble. They were a good size and made sense as part of bringing all the evidence together. I also loved the "find the difference" games, they added that extra fun element for me.
There are 3 different HO modes, fun variety. The 2 types of hints were quick to recharge, the map is okay and haven't needed it yet. The tutorial was simple, easy to understand. Right now I am playing in the Easy Mode which I also use for the demos. But I want to try the Medium and Hard Modes, too. Always fun to experiment with the different levels.
I really like this type of game as a pleasant change from the more involved storylines and fantasy themes. Just a fun hidden object game with no bells and whistles is sometimes a breath of fresh air. I own other games from Seven Sails and they all have been good purchases. There are never any tech problems and their solitaire games are quite good.
The 60 minute demo for today's game seemed gone in a flash, so I purchased right away. I am maybe little more than halfway into the game and liking it a lot. Try the demo, I think you'll find that an HO game need not be big and fancy to be fun. The recent games of this type, lately, have been so disappointing but Seven Sails has delivered a good one, IMO. Yes, it does repeat scenes but each time the list is different and some of those are jumbled lists and other such things. Some of the HO's are small or dark but to me that is part of the fun of trying to find it. The puzzles are unique and not really hard.
You can choose the easiest in settings and it is a pleasant untimed journey. You can get a lot of help along the way should you choose to.
Give this gem of a game a try. Hopefully you will enjoy and have FUN.

I like the old fashioned hidden object games and some I had no longer work on my computer so it is nice to get a chance to get one again. The story kept me interested and eager to find out how it ended. I thought it was a well done game and wanted to add my review as there were quite a few negative ones. One thing I did on the dark scenes was use a magnifying glass. Then the objects stood out a lot better and I could find the ones that were not easy to see. But for most of the scenes I had no problem with finding the items. I would say it had a reasonable amount of challenge. Some were tricky to spot, others were easy to see. On the whole, I enjoyed playing this game. Show less
