Lately, when a new game is released I play the demo first & draft a review if I’m going to do one, before I read the other reviews for the game. I don’t want to be persuaded either way and just want my level of enjoyably scale 1-5 for that game to be my honest, off the cuff opinion. Am I in a good mood when playing it? Or reviewing it? I’ve noticed my mood is a big factor on my rating and so is gaming burn-out. I took a year off casual games to play console games due to this. So ask yourself is it a HOPA you want to be playing now, a HOGO (Hidden Object Game Only-lol :), a TM or an M3. Because I’ve noticed I need to be in the mood to play/review one genre or another.
So when I played this game I actually swore when the demo ended because I wanted to keep playing it. To me, that says a lot. The first Polaroid that had the reactive ghostie pop in for a visit had me hooked. I absolutely adore the reactive items this dev puts in their games. I always feel like I’m on a treasure hunt. And I laugh like a kid finding an Easter egg in some cleverly hidden spot. I believe the game this dev gave us the most of these is 2017s Mystery Tales: The Hangman Returns. I completed that one and it has multiple reactive items in every scene the entire game. It was so much fun seeing how creative and involved they were. I've put it in my Favorite's link if you want to give it a demo.
I personally loved this demo and I bought it due to the sale today. I tend to like spookier, paranormal type games.
I thought the storyline was clever in this one.
A lot of the new games coming out don't focus on the story enough and seem to pay more attn: to mouth movements, who cares...would rather have a great & complete story. I liked the interactive HOPs with multiple zoom zones, a variety of text on the notes & articles. I liked the characters in this one, especially the main creepy girl who was beautiful. I really loved the pool scene in the demo. And who didn't love that awesome Jack Russell?
If you liked this game, I think these are similar and you may want to demo:
1. Ominous Objects: Lumina Camera
2. Fear for Sale: Tiny Terrors
I don’t want to see HOPAs die out. I get so happy when a new one is released here during this HOPA drought. I did feel bad for the level of critisim for this game but I feel this is why....
Frustration. The harsh criticism and low ratings are because the reviewers have been trying to guide this dev, for a long time, to help them make a few small changes that would help them sell more games. The review I wrote for Spirit Chronicles: Flowers of Hope CE that came out 7-1-22 is when I voiced my suggestions for the first time in hopes this dev would hear me too. I am only echoing, in that review, what the brunt of the other reviewers have been saying for a long time to help this dev. This game has low ratings, imo, *not* because it’s a bad game… but the fact the dev doesn’t seem to hear us. I forgot to add, logic. Most players like items to be found in logical spots. Mail in the mailbox kind of thing, not a high heeled shoe, a pack of gum & the neighbor's broken skateboard. lol
I liked the ghost camera in this game. I understand most people don’t like gadgets but I don’t mind them. The music in this game is fitting and one song is absolutely gorgeous. The sound effects and environmental effects, the graphics, game options, all great.
Is the game pretty to be in? It bit too much aqua, but yes. Have they spent time to make it a quality game? Yes. Is it a good game for some new player that has never played one of these games before? Yes. Is this game also imperfect for most expert players? Yes. I truly hope this dev takes the criticism to dive in and make some fundamental changes with the format and CE content.
I MISS the dev we lost already and don’t want to lose another. I hope this dev will read/consider my review for Spirit Chronicles: Flowers of Hope because I feel the same way about this game too. I still believe reviewers mean well, they are just harsh out of frustration for trying to help and they don't feel heard. Thank you to anyone who read this winded review. It's just my opinion. :) Peace.

Everyone has his right to free opinion, but must therefore be made equal to everything bad? Unfortunately, this is probably a sign of our time of crisis that the interaction with each other is getting rougher. Too bad, I found in any case Behind the Doll Eyes exciting and also the bonus part very generous and completely ok.

I enjoy playing games through this developer and when I don't want to use a hint I use the matching function to find objects easier sometimes I don't want to use the matching grid for an extra challenge. It makes a change to play a game on the paranormal rather than a general hidden object game. I enjoy playing large games because they have more detail than smaller games

REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME
4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 45 pages
Kudos to DO Games for another “phantasmic” spookfest! Enjoy a ghostly jaunt into the world of the paranormal as a detective with your own agency, Mystical Riddles. Your companions on these two haunts will be from the ghostly realm. In the main game, help a future mother-in-law discover why her future daughter-in-law gives her goosebumps and why she seems so cold to her. Although her son considers her as a real doll, mom is less impressed. In the bonus chapter, help a neurotic husband locate his wife. And if this hubby seems somewhat strange, there is a reason!
DO Games is my favorite HOPA developer, providing more game value for the money and this game is no exception. I loved the storylines in both the main game and the bonus chapter. I found the pace excellent with fun-filled activities throughout the game. There are many extras in this developer’s games which other developers do not provide. For me, I cannot wait to play the games from DO Games.
The gaming format is the same as in all this developer’s other games. There are three collectibles. They include morphing runes, dolls, and photographs which can be exchanged to outfit a boudoir at the end of the game. You get a gimmicky camera which takes photos of the world of the paranormal. Just push the button every time you see a glimmering light. As in the last game you have the option to add more game footage – this time it is meandering around a doll house and within the basement of a forest cabin. I love this new option within this developer’s games.
MECHANICS:
• Four (4) levels of play including a customized version.
• 44 achievements.
• Collect 15 dolls and 15 morphing runes.
• Collect 59 snapshots which can be traded to items to deck out a boudoir
• 10 wallpapers along with concept art, music, and video sequences
• Replay 21 HOP scenes and 18 Mind Games
• Gimmicky camera to take pictures of the paranormal
BONUS CHAPTER: It is a different story than from the main game. Play the paranormal detective in solving yet another case. Help a husband locate his wife who is missing. Also, help a ghostly green hound from the underworld who is trying to collect a wayward soul. There are five (5) HOP scenes and seven (7) mind games (AKA puzzles). This chapter is a wonderful addition to the main game. I felt the activities were equal in quality to those in the main game.
HOP SCENES: There are twenty-one (21) scenes, all of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. The scenes are very creatively designed. All are interactive and two of them have puzzles within the scene. As in previous games, the player can play a Match-3 game instead of the HOP scenes. These are some of the best HOP scenes out there and all are somewhat puzzle-like. There are only two standard lists of items (which I find boring). There is a variety of different styles. There are scenes with cryptic clues, rebus clues, and matching. There are the usual storybook scenes with silhouetted items to be located. The player will also discover a scene in which items which are out of place must be identified, and once clicked, return to their proper position. For me, this developer’s HOP scenes are creative works of art.
MIND GAMES: There are thirty-three (33) puzzles, eighteen (18) of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. As in other games, most of the puzzles can be played in either an easy or a hard mode. I love the phrase “mind games.” However, even the “harder mind games” are not terribly challenging. I only wish that this developer would provide more of these puzzles to be replayed upon completion of the game.
SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MIND GAMES FROM THIS GAME (E = Easy; H = Hard)
A. E/H. Strategy/Physics puzzle. Set the value on shut off valves so that the pressure causes a ball to go from one end of a pipe to the other. The easy version has 5 valves and the hard has 6.
B. E/H. Sequence puzzle. Enter a code to open a chest by using pointers to select and place tokens into slots at the bottom of the grid in sequential order. The easy version has 3 tokens to place while the hard has 5
C. E/H. Maze Escape puzzle. Move through a maze choosing between 3 routes at the proper time to escape ghosts. 3X
D. E/H. Assembly puzzle. Place cutlery into position into a suitcase so all fit without overlapping. Easy version has an easier arrangement than the hard version.
E. E/H. Pant by Number puzzle. In this case, paint by symbol. Paint a picture with paints matching symbols within the scene. The hard version has symbols which morph in and out of the picture.
F. E/H. Maze puzzle. Move 2 minecarts to houses of the same color removing obstacles along the way. Alternate between the carts to remove obstacles to open paths. The hard version has more obstacles.
G. E/H. Assembly puzzle. Neat puzzle in which you guess 8 animals being portrayed by hand shadows. In the hard version, the animals are divided into segments; the player must click on all the animal segments to remove them.
H. Switch puzzle. On four tokens, each with 4 different colored segments, rotate the tokens to change the position of their segments until each of the four has segments of the same color.
BONUS CHAPTER:
I. Map puzzle. Move 4 pieces of a tiara to their matching slots at the side of a grid. Move them on a 11 x 6 grid with rotating tree roots. Keep the pieces from hitting the tree roots while moving them to their slots.
J. E/H. Strategy puzzle. On a grid, press on squares with up to 5 dots on them to throw dirt on a fire. The dots indicate how many squares it can extinguish. The easy grid as 25 squares and the hard 36 squares.

Another winner from Domini, this time with more of a creepy feel!
As usual, Domini's graphics are fabulous, very detailed, and vivid. Their design of faces, both making them all unique and realistic, is constantly improving. They've really mastered adding natural lines to faces to age them, something not many developers have achieved well or gracefully. The realism of the designed characters is improving all the time. Sometimes I just marvel at it.
This game has a creepy vibe but not overly so. It isn't an asylum vibe or anything, and in a new twist, the "horror" involves swimming pools! There's a lot of attention to detail, and if you click around on random objects in scenes, you'll find a good jump scare or two and fun little movements, something that has become an entertaining hallmark of Domini games.
The collectibles are sometimes tricky, sometimes easy, all findable. In general scenes, we need to find dolls and runes (they kind of look like matis/Greek evil eyes to me), and both kinds morph. In the closeups, it's snapshots.
I really like the concept behind this game and the plot. Really nice change and a good combo of factors involved. I won't spoil it for you.
And now for a PSA: If you don't like Domini Games, stop playing them. The complaints are the same over and over again. The developer is what it is, and that's not going to change. These are never going to be some Elder Scrolls-level games with brand-new items and concepts in every game, so don't expect something other than what you know you're going to get. Part of the problem seems to be that so many developers' games aside from Domini got negative reviews from many of these same people and for many of the same reasons (they like to say all old games are better than the new ones, but they complained about the same things in the past on other developers' games), that most developers have jumped ship. In all past games, no matter the developer, we've needed to find screwdrivers, we have had broken keys in locks, and we've needed a valve. That's just how it is. Because of these ongoing complaints that started years ago and have included most developers' games, all we have left now is pretty much Domini and poorly remastered games—don't ruin it for all the many people who still love Domini. If they stop making HOPs, Big Fish will have no HOP developers left.
Reviewers are so busy raining down fire on Domini Games simply for the purpose of hating on the developer (note: when they first called themselves Do Games, the reviewers were much kinder and more generous and liked the game; when they figured out Do Games was Domini, the hate became unreal), they missed the actual mistakes. There were a couple of sloppy mistakes in this game, which is why my rating dropped from 5 stars to 4 stars. For example, a repeated line of spoken dialogue that replaced what was supposed to be a different line, and something in our inventory called the wrong name (I think it was a scoop being called a spatula). These aren't game ruiners, they just mean the developer could use some more careful quality control.
This game is a fun one—judge for yourself in the demo instead of reading the broken-record bad reviews. Keep it up, Domini. Show less

I enjoyed the demo. Much better than the first game in the series. I will buy next time there is a BOGO.
I thought the story line was a bit weak and the level of challenge lower than other games by Do/Domini.
The bugs noted in the reviews were gone and the I found the colors more crisp than noted.
All in all I enjoyed the demo.

Bonus game was very good with a small surprise.
One does collect bonus items along the way with most not too hard to find. I did miss two but at the end you can't go back to collect them as in some other games. Well, unless you replay the game.
Try the free part to see if you like it and if you do you shall like the rest of the game.

Some scenes you have a teal sky and teal ground. It's moldy and terrible. I'd rather the purple and pinks. The teal took away any enjoyment.

I kept wondering what the blonde's deal was. I was 3/4 done until I found out.
I really liked the collectibles. I found 15 dolls, 15 runes and not all of the 59 snapshots. I missed one and the map didn't show it like it should. The Boudoir starts out broken down and when you purchase it's a different item fixed up.
The hops are more puzzle like. I like regular but I did like the morphing hops. Most hops were too dark to see even if you use the brightness option. It has English mistakes like calling a clock a watch. Instead of a Dutch oven it has a Russian oven which was a wicker basket.
Relays on 26 videos, 20 out of 21 hops, 18 mini-games and 5 music. (one hop is locked up after bonus chapter). Show less
