I didn't have any of the issues the other reviewers talked about (too small/too dark/to grainy). Perhaps because I was playing on a gaming desktop. I found the game very enjoyable and would recommend.

This game is very good - I'm really not sure why anyone would leave a negative review... The play is easy-going, great pictures and sounds, fun storyline... overall great game. 1) Yes, many of the objects are very difficult to find. As a matter of fact, without the magnifier this game would not be worth the effort.

If you know Mia Faircroft, you know these folks, too. Just some random thoughts -
1) Yes, many of the objects are very difficult to find. As a matter of fact, without the magnifier this game would not be worth the effort.
2) My eyes can barely handle the strain of playing for very long due to the difficulty of finding such small objects that are only partially visible and sometimes hidden in the dark. This is a game I can only play for short periods of time before I have to exit and play something else that is a lot more eye-friendly.
3) Lots of dialogue (just like the Faircroft games), but mercifully there is an option to skip it for the gamers who don't want to slog through it.
4) Varied puzzles and most of them are fun and enjoyable.
5) The fun facts you find with the "?" are fun and interesting.
6) This game is worth it to me since there is a good sale right now. Would probably not pay full price for it though.
7) It's a huge plus that the magnifier stays with you until you release it with a right click since it's needed to find objects in every HO scene (IMHO).
I see the star ratings for this game are all over the place. That makes it difficult to gauge what the game is like; but it's a good idea to try the trial version most of the time anyway. Show less

I still found this enjoyable, based on the demo. I agree with other reviewers, there is a problem with visibility. I found the slightly more challenging levels welcome. There are scrambled words, not to everyone's liking, but I like them. They allow me to play a word game in English, which is nice for an anglophone living in a non-anglophonic country.

What I liked less was the 1 gig download. Does a HOG really have to be that big? It seems to me like Boomzap always has big downloads. For what it is, this game takes up a lot of space in comparison to other, similar games. I know that 1 gig is not a lot in comparison to triple A titles, but it's strange that they always are big for casual games.

I also don't really care for the main protagonists. The two women don't look like a mother and daughter pair, they look like they're the same age. I find them obnoxious, and this is one reason why I did not care for or get the previous installment in this series. They are immediately trying to pry in someone's life that they don't really know. It sort of is unrealistic, even though I know it's supposed to be a story hook.

The other thing I did not care for is the so-called Italian pizzeria puzzle. Well, no, it's not an Italian pizzeria. I happen to know, because I know Italy pretty well and there are a lot of food items that you would just never see in a real pizzeria. It is a nice scene, but from a US pizzeria (and it made me hungry).

I do, overall, recommend this game and this might be my first Boomzap purchase in a long time. I did not like the previous game, but this one is overall better than okay (3.5 stars in my view, so rounded up to 4). I recommend it, unless you are playing on an empty stomach and hitting the food scenes. Show less

I hate timed games I feel like there is too much pressure to finish..

I agree that the graphics are not very good. Game play was OK but not overly fun. The puzzles were much better than the HO scenes. The storyline I found to be quite boring. The characters are not very relatable. The story lines with Mia are MUCH better....bring Mia back and get rid of this mom and daughter team. I can't recommend paying money for this game, which is becoming a recurring theme here ...Show more

It looks like a good game but would only recommend if you want eye strain! It's so dark that its nigh impossible to see any of the hidden objects clearly and you have to use the hint button to find them!

I don't recommend this game.

Boomzap really went all out for this one. Lots of features, options, mini games, HO styles, etc. Easy, Medium, Hard. Custom Modes. Custom lets you reduce Hint and Super Hint to 1 second. I played in Easy and Custom, both challenging. Can skip dialogue. Choose full or short version of tutorial.

The magnifier is a good size and stays with you until you release it, find the question mark and get a fun fact about Rome, zoom zone is triggered and has several extra items. The game is loaded with so many things that it is almost too much. Nice graphics, lots of color, nice music, set in Rome.

Good variety of HO styles and mini-games. The collage puzzle was horrendous. Too many little pieces to find on a food background and it just wasn't fun, super challenge. The other puzzles weren't very enjoyable either, I skipped a slider puzzle. Lots of food featured in this game, I'm not a fan, the Photo Journal is full of it.

I should have enjoyed this game but I did not at all. Most objects were too small, too dark, too well blended or hidden in very dark areas. It increased the difficulty and diminished the fun. I never shy away from a good challenge but it went overboard in this game due to these factors. It became to frustrating, as I had to frequently use the hint. I love getting that perfect score but replaying the levels would be a nightmare.

Usually, I love Boomzap HOGS but wasn't sure how to fairly rate this. I felt guilty giving it 2 stars because it is still a quality game, except for the issues that spoiled it for me this time. Definitely try the demo. Maybe it won't be as frustrating for you! Show less
