Difficulty Range: Beginner-possibly Intermediate
When you get a warning stating, "WARNING: This game features graphic depictions of violence that some may find disturbing. It is not for the faint of heart." you automatically expect to get a game that's "disturbing.' Instead, we get a game that insinuates graphic violence is taking place in the game's opening cutscene. In reality, the game is about an older, grieving widow who decides to lift her spirits by playing the role of an investigative journalist...while podcasting to friends and neighbors. Most of the investigative work involves finding shaped motifs to snoop through everyone's cabinets and personal belongings. This snooping even takes place in the local Hospital while everyone goes about their business as if a stranger isn't committing a crime...while she's trying to solve a crime! Am I missing something spectacular here?
GADGET/HELPERS:
There are two Gadgets, a Cellphone, and a Voice Recorder. Both gadgets have a huge gold button on the top left of the screen that will pulsate whenever a gadget is needed. Personally, I found this to be one of the most ridiculous gadgets ever offered in a game. If I have to use a cell phone, why can't they just put the cell phone in or near the inventory bar? I realize Emily is an elderly woman, but I am not; I can use my cellphone as a voice recorder; if a cellphone doesn't have this capability, there are a ton of apps that work just as well. That's all besides the point; these gimmicky devices were added to make the game appear "cutting-edge"... it was not a cutting-edge kind of game (nor did it require a "warning"). It's even more annoying when the characters stand there staring at you, patiently waiting for you to fumble around and turn on a voice recorder. The African Grey Parrot was much more amusing!
MORPHING OBJECTS/COLLECTIBLES: (CE version only)
There are no Morphing Objects once again, a feature that Elephant Games have always had in the past...#disappointed-appointed-disappointed-appointed-disappointed (...wait for it....aha!)
There are 24 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces. The puzzle pieces allow you to assemble a single Jigsaw Puzzle. This is a 24-piece jigsaw puzzle because, obviously, we are not worthy of anything larger. There are also 12 Collectible Items. Just for grins & giggles, Elephant Games decided it would be best if the player had no clue what collectible they were supposed to look for in the scenes. To make it even more challenging, the collectibles are normal everyday household items...just like all the other everyday household items in the scenery. (yes, I'm being sarcastic) NOTE: you get an opportunity to return to scenes to find missing collectibles & puzzle pieces in the Expedition Room.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES:
The Hidden Object Scenes are varied, which is a good thing, but I gotta admit that half the time, I was clueless as to what I was expected to do. There was a scene in the 3rd chapter that required clicking on various pictures on a cell phone, but the pictures were doubled up, so it was confusing, especially when I was tasked with finding the number 186, which apparently was a huge blurred area? Also, in the 3rd chapter was a HOS that simply said, "This rolled out of his pocket," and you literally guess at which objects they are referring! Another scene in the BC required me to find a "bloody murder" while thumbing thru a case file folder. The bloody murder was just a blood stain? There are Listed Items, Interactive Lists, Silhouetted Shapes, Matching Symbols, Swatches, Multiples of the same objects, and Keywords in Sentence Finds as well.
MINI-GAMES/PUZZLES:
One thing I usually love about the puzzles from Elephant Games is that they are usually multi-step puzzles, such as setting gauges or figuring out the correct moves several steps later. These mini-games were more like simple puzzles, rotating squares, swapping puzzle strips, recreating images by sliding tiles, using an empty slot, swapping pictures to the correctly shaped outlines, placing objects into a suitcase based on the size & shape, etc. The only puzzle that stood out in my mind in the entire game was a lock puzzle requiring you to rotate elements on a grid to recreate the pattern shown. (tokens with 1-4 arms) I liked this particular puzzle, but it has been offered in almost every Elephant game lately.
BONUS CHAPTER: (Collector's Edition version only)
The police have asked Emily to join forces with them to track down a convicted murderer who somehow managed to escape prison and disappear without a trace. There are five additional Mini-Games and six Hidden Object Scenes that take place over six additional scene locations. You will continue your search for the three remaining Collectibles and six Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces that allow you to finish the single Jigsaw Puzzle. After completing the Bonus Chapter, the Expedition Room becomes available, which allows you to search for any missing collectibles and jigsaw puzzle pieces.
COLLECTOR'S EDITION EXTRAS:
6 Wallpapers, 1 Screensaver, 4 Music Soundtracks, 21 Achievements, 12 Collectibles, 24 Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces, 1 Jigsaw Puzzle in the Secret Room (the puzzle pieces can be assembled as you find each piece, it isn't necessary to wait until game completion) 13 Mini-Games & 13 Hidden Object Scenes, an Expedition Room which allows you to return to the scenes to search for missed collectibles & puzzle Pieces, 3 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

If you expect the game to deliver what is claimed in the synopsis you'll be disappointed. The storyline didn't happen here. There was no need for the warning of graphic content. There were so many tasks in the demo, I didn't enjoy it much and boredom took over. The 45 minutes I played had nothing to hold one's attention. A couple of minor glitches, otherwise all went smoothly.

The HOP scenes were dark, it was hard to identify items. Despite that, there was surprisingly minimal challenge, not very creative. The puzzles were better but those too were very easy. I really liked the graphics, good color. I thought the characters were nicely depicted. Their movements weren't so stiff and they sounded good. The voice-overs didn't sound like bad script reading.
I don't think this game is bad, I do think it needs to be more involved in the story it promises and less to do with tasks. It may become more entertaining after the demo but I'm reluctant to take a chance to find out. Crime stories are always my favorites so passing one up is always a let-down. I wish the demos would reveal more story. It would make decisions much easier. Show less

There was no storyline that I could deduct from the trial. It was not fun at all or much of a challenge. That "warning" is pretty silly from what I could see.
I don't recommend this game.

It was a complete waste of money. It was not very interesting and ridiculously short.
