It does take a few rounds to get used to the game play. You slide the rows to match the pieces. It also allows for very intricate matches. At the beginning for maybe 10 levels it will help you find matches which I found annoying. However after 10 levels the hint matches disappeared, and then in later rounds I wanted them back.

It does take a few rounds to get used to the game play. You slide the rows to match the pieces. It also allows for very intricate matches. You get powerups with matches of 4 or more. Plus there are 10 powerups you can buy with coins and upgrade them. You will have to use the powerups in later rounds or you won't finish.

Another reviewer said it's not challenging. I disagree. This game is as hard or easy as you make it. There are 3 goals per level. You can simply clear the board, and be done. Or you can try for the other two goals as well which are gathering a certain number of pieces or making intricate design swaps.

This game was well designed with difficult layouts, super bright colors. The screen will be small as you will need to click off of full screen for clarity. You can also choose timed or untimed adventure mode. Show less

Challenges are added by frozen stones, frozen icons, 4-tile icons (unique to this game!), and different board configurations. This M3 is based on moving rows and columns, instead of matching groups or swapping tiles. Challenges are added by frozen stones, frozen icons, 4-tile icons (unique to this game!), and different board configurations. You may choose the timed or untimed mode, but know that the timed mode is a bit aggressive. You need to gather your gold coins to buy your power-ups, and use them if time is running out. You can replay a level if you run out of time. The icons are bright and colorful, and new icons are added as the levels progress, keeping the game fresh, and the graphics are vivid. In between games you are brought back to the storyline, and have a mini-game at the end of each level. The only disadvantage is that you have to wait for all icons to fall into place before being able to make another move, but it is fast. Hint: make as many matches as possible with the multiple-point icons to earn more gold coins. Enjoy Treasures of the Ancient Cavern! Show less

The storyline revolves around paganism and idols, a theme which did not appeal to me at all.

I found the game quite basic in its execution, and had I not also been listening to an audio book while I was playing, would soon have become bored. There did not seem to be much of a challenge, even though some interesting items such as stones or frozen lines were included. Perhaps it gets more difficult later on, but as I could only play for an hour, I have no way of knowing. What I experienced of the game in the first hour was not challenging enough for me to want to buy the full version.

There was one other annoyance, and it is a common one I find in this type of game: namely the game gives unwanted hints as to the next possible move which come up VERY quickly and cannot be turned off. This is so irritating, in fact, that it has put me off the game entirely. I wish developers of these games would understand that not everyone wants or needs to be told where the next move is, especially after only a couple of seconds hesitation. Not only that, but the hints were of a random nature, suggesting places where the board had already been cleared and thus not ones which would help the player complete the board, so in my view, the hints offered less intelligent moves than the player could discern for themselves.

For these reasons, and because there are other much better match three games available, I will not be purchasing the full version and cannot recommend it to anyone. Show less
