Each level has 3 coins to find which can be used to purchase upgrades such as a double cursor, an extra hint, a flashlight, mirror, fire extinguisher and an oxygen tank. Most of the levels contain a piece of an artifact to find that will be used at the end of each level to solve a mini game such as turning discs to allow water to flow through canals from start to finished unblocked. Each level has interactive sections where you need to find the missing piece and replace it. The spot the difference puzzles are very well done and some of them will stump you, occasionally a character will pop up on the side and if you are fast enough to catch him you will earn an extra hint. If you like egyptian themed games this one's a keeper, enjoy! Show less

I really like the Pharaoh's Trilogy. Good Atmosphere, great music, nice graphics, and a lot of things to do: collect coins, earn extra hints, several and funny puzzles, besides the HOS, that are very clear.
A very good way to relaxing and having fun.
I recommend this game!

Review based on the completed game (there is no option to select difficulty.)
"Curse of the Pharaoh: Napoleon's Secret" is the sequel to "Curse of the Pharaoh: The Quest for Nefertiti"; once again, a strong storyline... AND to my surprise, a few voice-overs when you enter the 1st scene of each world; there is still a bit of reading (a couple of journal pages) between each world and at the very "end", but none between each scene within a world. The Egyptian setting is not as predominant as in the 1st game so I didn't find myself as immersed; I also found the scenes to have more shadows and dark zones than before, with still beautifully hand-drawn graphics.
This game also has 9 "worlds", but this time with 6 scenes in each, and there are some list-based HO levels, not just "spot the 10 differences"; it seems the ratio of "spot the differences" levels versus "hidden object" is about 3 to 1, while in the first story it was probably 8 to 1.
There are now only 3 coins per scene instead of 5, but that's more than enough to buy the tools you'll need (like the fire extinguisher and the oxygen tank); as in the first game, there are "puzzle items", which must then be placed in the relevant scenes of that world. Like in the first game, you need to collect the 5 pieces of Tutankhamun's (aka "King Tut") mask in order to unlock the mini-game at the conclusion of a world. Most of the mini-games are very easy, with only a couple being very slightly challenging.
This time around, they've improved the capture of hints by enabling BOTH cursors to click on Wipi, which appears frequently but only for a couple of seconds.
The game is a bit longer than the 1st (about 2.5 hours) and uses many of the same "tricks" to create the differences.
I played this game using Windows 10 without any issue; personally, despite having scenes that are not as decorative and exotic as "Quest for Nefertiti", I found the objects to be crisper but more challenging to find/match. I'm curious to see what the 3rd/final story ("Tears of Sekhmet") will bring... hopefully a true conclusion to the story? Show less
I recommend this game!

This is an older game with rather crude graphics compared to more modern games but t I found the gameplay rather intriguing. Fortunately I used the tutorial for a change and was certainly glad I did. It sounds like some of the reviewers who said they were confused about what to do probably didn't.
The game is a combination of HOS, Find the differences and collect inventory, coins and pieces of a Pharaoh's mask. The coins are used to purchase objects that will help you in certain scenes. For example, in one of the HOS, fire breaks out and increasingly obscures the scene so you can't find anything unless you buy a fire extinguisher in the store (and you've got to have collected enough coins to do so). Even with the extinguisher, fire keeps breaking out and you have to keep going back to your inventory bag and clicking on the fire extinguisher to use it again and again. This activity really disrupts your concentration as you try to find the differences in the scene, the coins you are supposed to collect and the mask piece you're looking for.
If you click too many times in a scene just trying to find something without seeing it, you'll be penalized. The lights go out and you must use a limited area flashlight for a random amount of time.
Another aspect of this game I really liked was having to earn your hints. While you are looking for objects or differences, a little Anubis character pops up at random around the edges of your screen then quickly disappears. If you want to earn a hint you've got to spot him in time to click on him and it isn't easy!
On each level you have to find the pharaoh pieces to complete the mask for that level or you can't unlock the minipuzzle and proceed. The minipuzzles range from easy to somewhat challenging and there is no skip function (that I could find).
I would like to see some of the features of this older game incorporated into some of the newer games - especially the activities that disrupt your concentration on the HO or find the differences scenes, penalize you in some way if you're just clicking to get through the scene and the requirement to earn hints as opposed to just having the hint function refill automatically. I recommend this game!

This game was better than the first one in this 3-part series, the Nefertiti one. The HOS are a little harder so is more challenging, but the mini games are still pretty easy. Again, there is a preponderance of spot-the-differences but more HOS have been added since the first game.

This game is not fun. I was compelled to buy the Strategy Guide because the game play is so fragmented and confusing. You are given a number of things to find in a HOS, but not all of them are in that HOS. Come on, that just isn’t fair and isn’t good game play. How can you know when you are done? This game is not fun. I was compelled to buy the Strategy Guide because the game play is so fragmented and confusing. You are given a number of things to find in a HOS, but not all of them are in that HOS. Come on, that just isn’t fair and isn’t good game play. How can you know when you are done? Without the guide the game becomes very confusing and is unappealing to me. The artwork is uncommonly bad, objects are often hidden in areas so dark that they are indistinguishable. I did not detect any semblance of a story line. Lacking a plot, it has license to skip all over . You cannot skip puzzles. Solve them or die. The music is grating. The voices are even worse, with their fake accents. I played this without any sound. Did I like anything about the game? My answer has to be not much except the spot the differences scenes. Show less

I bought the whole trilogy as a bundle because I love continuing story-lines. But boy did I regret it! The challenge is non-existant, the storyline flat and the whole of the mini-games uninspiring! If I could give all three of those games back in exchange for even one game credit I would do it in an instant.
I don't recommend this game.
