You control a party of characters exploring and on missions to accomplish. You fight battles and grow in strength, experience and money with each battle. You can return to towns to recover health and purchase stronger weapons and armor. You can pick different skills at the beginning to provide randomness to your character. You control a party of characters exploring and on missions to accomplish. You fight battles and grow in strength, experience and money with each battle. You can return to towns to recover health and purchase stronger weapons and armor. You can pick different skills at the beginning to provide randomness to your character. You can also pick and choose who is in your party. Different characters have different skills, experience and weapons they can use.

Most of the story and tasks are non-liner. You must save yourself often to restart when you get killed.

Length
Long – several hundred hours. Is shorter than the Aveyond 1 and 2. Show less

Love the Aveyond series- very reminicent of the old nintendo RPG's like Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Zelda, and such. Aveyond 1 and 2 are more stand-alone games with different characters. The rest are continuations of Aveyond 3's main character Mel, whose adventures start with "Lord of Twilight", moves on with "Gates of Night", then "The Lost Orb", and the newest "Darkthrop Prophesy". This is the third in a series, and you can carry parts of your previous character through them all, so I do not suggest that you start with this one, but with Lords of Twilight. These are terrific RPG games..a super change from hidden object adventures. These are wonderful! The characters and stories, the hidden things and side quests..it is just tons of fun and I could not stop playing. There are walkthroughs around the internet that really add to the game, because there are so many tiny side quests that are excellent and you may miss them, otherwise. The game is huge, takes days, not hours to play and all of that time is truly enjoyment. I grabbed the next one in the series as soon as I finished this one. Just don't want it to end!! Show less

Great games. Love the whole series. Reminds me of zelda or Link back in the Nintendo days. Need these games to go onto MAC though.

This was the fourth game of the Aveyond series that I bought, and it is every bit as good, if not better than any of the others before it in the series. (It is fifth in the series, I just don't play anything in order.# I love how you can see the improvements that they make to every game, as gameplay just gets smoother every game they make. I started playing it, and I just couldn't stop. I was HOOKED.

The storyline is great and the characters are fun. Don't expect the story to be SUPER compelling and serious, but I personally loved it because the dialogue made me laugh out loud on plenty of occasions. #Mel IS a bit headstrong and stubborn in this one, as long as that kind of character doesn't annoy you, you should love her same as me :)) The music is nice, which is a plus, but on several occasions I did just mute it and play my own. All depends on your mood, I guess. Also, the game world is BIG, and there are a lot of places to explore, which I adored.

I left out one bar on challenge because there are 6 secrets in the game to find that give you lots of money or great weapons or stuff like that. They can be tricky to find, but google puts their locations right at your fingertips. I used all of the secrets, which made it significantly easier, but that's the way I like it. If you like more of a challenge, just play the game through without them, and I'm sure it will be more up your alley.

It is definitely a contestant for one of my favorite games EVER, as it is just wonderful in every way. Show less
