This is one of those fun games that is, thankfully, free of hidden object headaches.
It seems to be a short or demo version, like the Kaptain Brawe part 1. There's more to it in the full game. Hopefully BigFish will get the full one at some point. If not, it'd worth paying for elsewhere.

One of the names in the credits is Benoit Sokal, who is also associated with the Syberia games and Sinking Island, which are all great games. Amerzone seems more like the Syberia games. However, this seems to be a venture into the 360-degree swivel style. It's not quite as sea-sick as some other games in that style, though.
This is a fun game, with lots of things to do, things to read, gadgets to play and several interesting places to go. Also, you have fairly challenging/logical tasks to complete. The ending video, in particular, is nice. There's a good story developing even in this shorty version. Show less
I recommend this game!

For me this is a true 5 star game and an absolute “must have”.

For me this is a true 5 star game and an absolute “must have”.
I read about Amerzone and Benoit Sokal, (the author) when searching for Siberia III, which unfortunately for all adventure gamers, may never materialise.
Anyway regarding Amerzone, at this stage I have only played the 1 hour demonstration but knew I would be buying this game from the outset, despite the negative reviews it seemed to be getting. I was almost delirious when I accidentally discovered BFG had acquired/released the game on 16th of Jan.
The game play is so direct it’s refreshing, and by direct I do not mean easy, I mean there is no confusion about what you are doing, where you are going or where to go next even though the only help provided is what the different cursor symbols represent.
Like all good adventure games the story is deep and engaging, almost hypnotic and makes you want to know more, which is so typical of Sokal games, and that Part 1 may be short does not bother me at all, I will be hanging out for Part II.
I am no great adventure gamer, even though I love adventure games. I almost always have to refer frequently to the game walkthrough, however if the remainder of the game is as direct as the first hour, then I may not have to use a walkthrough at all for this game.
But be warned! This is an adventure game. If you don’t enjoy finding your own way around and you do not like to read the material provided through-out the game, you may not find this game as engaging as I did. Show less

I love these games. Yes, it is broken up in three parts, like the first syberia game. Yes, I'd prefer that it was one. But, I had read all the reviews about how short the first one was and I was prepared to deal with it. The first one is very short. Ok. So, I went on to two and three. I love them. There is a fabulous story, it is really fun to play, an excellent adventure full of lovely ideas. Although each of the 3 parts are short, I'd say they were short but sweet. if you get lost look at a walkthrough to get you going again. The journey is well worth price of 3 parts. I loved the game.

Ok, first part. Most challenging for me was figure it out code to open door. I just enjoyed in everything. In this game you must read everything, find out what is happend so you can progress thru game. I have trouble reading hand written text, but it's worth it :-). When you get what is happend, it's not so hard to play the game. Logic work in this game very good :-).
I played trial before buying and read comments and many people complain how short was after they played trial, but need to have in mind that this is parts of ONE game. I mind also cuting game in three parts.
I'm not so much in this game about white birds as I am in this unfortunately not so happy love story between very young Yekoumani and young scientist Valembois. Well, how young is Yekoumani you found in second part. That story in game just broke my heart. Show less

I've played this game some years back and was looking forward to replaying it (even if it was only part 1). But you just get into the game, take off and it ends. Why buy part one? It's a waste of money. If your thinking of playing this classic either wait for the rest of it to become available or go somewhere else and get the full version. The game for me will always be a pleasurable experience.

Explore the lighthouse, learn about Amerzone, and repair a decrepit airplane with surprising abilities. If you like "Myst" style games, you'll probably enjoy this one.
Benoît Sokal's 1999 first-person adventure game Amerzone is presented by BFG in 3 separately downloadable parts. This was a precursor to the "Syberia" series. As expected from a graphic artist, the artwork is breathtaking and a stand-alone reason for experiencing the game, although the graphics are blocky and dark in some scenes.
Modern players may not be familiar or comfortable with this type of story-driven immersive interactive novel or movie. It is not a HOG nor does it contain challenging puzzles. It tells a story which the player helps to advance in 3 to 4 hours of gameplay.
There is no user manual, no hint system, and no written dialogue. Internal game instructions appear once at appropriate times as hand-drawn information boxes. Documents the user collects during gameplay provide background information, more lovely artwork, and hints to puzzle completion.
This is an early point-and-click style of interaction requiring the player to click on a symbol near an interactive object in a static scene. Show less
