What I found interesting was the "out of the box thinking" for the hidden object scenes. There are the typical list finds, But, some of them required you to find several fragmented pieces that then go together to make an axe for example. Then you use that axe to break a jar which then gives you another fragment to piece together a shovel and you than have to use that shovel to get the next piece. The mini games are fairly simple such as rotating discs on a pillar to form a picture. This game has a lot of HOS which kept me entertained, but the tasks in each scene are very easy to figure out which could eventually become boring. But so far so good, enjoy! Show less

It was fun, not too hard. It would have been nice if the map had been more helpful in getting you where you needed to be instead of back and forth so much. It has a nice story. The music was good at first but went over the same tune too much. It is nice and clear. There is a lot of beautiful scenery. I did enjoy this game of 5 chapters. Pretty nice for the price.
I recommend this game!

This is a simple little HO game, and I wouldn’t even consider buying it at full price, but on sale or as a Punchcard filler it has much to recommend it.
The graphics are fair, no wide screen settings, but not so poor a quality as to make the game unplayable. The music is lovely, but unfortunately there just isn’t enough of it to prevent it from becoming tedious, even in the demo.
Some of the things we expect in games today are not to be found here. There is no voiceover, no introductory video piece, just a series of stills with text to bring us up to date with the story so far (this is the third game in the Mystery Age series). There is also an assumption in the intro that you have played the other games and know the backstory. However, I did not find it a problem. Story isn’t really that important here.
Which isn’t to say that there isn’t one. Our ancient enemy the Chaos God is once again causing troubles, capturing souls in a black crystal ball. Soon, you too find yourself trapped in there, and must help the other trapped souls to break the spell. It is nothing inspired and could have been told better, but it was intriguing anyway. It was a delight to see a story set in the desert lands of the Middle East. I don’t think I’ve come across Bedouins before!
The gameplay, like the graphics, is fairly simplistic. But there is variety. There are non interactive list HO scenes with little or no animation, but the same scenes are also used for progressive fragmented objects scene. Similar to the progressive silhouette, you must first piece together one object to be used in the scene to find others. There are also a few scattered puzzles, nothing so far that we don’t already know, but tricky nonetheless. Adventure gameplay is the least attractive aspect of this game. Found and inventory items are used almost immediately, as a rule, and the next step is generally fairly obvious and not at all imaginative.
The interactive map cannot transport, but does tell you when you have a ‘scene’ puzzle and/or a ‘close-up’ puzzle or a HO scene in a location. It can be found in the journal, which also has a task list.
I do have a couple of beefs with this game. First, the cursor pick up is exceedingly fickle, sometimes requiring many tries before you can get and use your item. And the speech balloons and story text does not close automatically when finished, you must press ‘skip’ to get rid of it.
I am sure I will buy and enjoy playing this game, but I’m not in any rush – it is not a game that screams ‘buy me’, nevertheless... Show less

- I like the FROG scenes. You collect pieces of several items and then use the item to either find something else or as part of something else. This is my favourite kind of HO
- The story (so far) is interesting.
- The music is soothing although a bit choppy at scene changes I can also see it becoming monotonous, however, I don't consider this a negative. It's why I have a volume knob on my sound system.
-I found the graphics quite nice; again nothing to write home about.
What I didn't like
- I didn't like that there was only one level of play
- I didn't like having to read the dialogue and watch the changing screen at the same time. Good voice overs are always a plus.
- I didn't like having to access the map through the journal, so I stopped using it. It is not interactive, but does offer such info as scene puzzles, HOS and close up puzzles.
- I didn't like the list style HOS that popped. They were easy but not interactive.
- Puzzles are not too hard, but they don't come with instructions.
- The hint button will only tell you there is nothing further to do in a particular scene.
All in all I had more negatives than positives, but I am still enjoying the game, so I am neither going to recommend it... nor give it a 'thumbs down'. (plus I used a free coupon for it that was going to expire, so I am happy!)

IHOG {Interactive Hidden Object Game} 3rd of the Mystery Age series, I'm not enjoying it as much as the other 2....there are no voiceovers, no widescreen for me, no choice of difficulty, there is a choice of custom or system cursor, no choice to lock inventory into place, which annoys me greatly, hint button fills quickly outside of HOS {Hidden Object Scene} it tells you 'there is nothing to do here' doesn't guide you to where there is...although if you enter a scene and aren't quick enough there are 'glints' to guide you...another pet hate of mine
HOS {Hidden Object Scenes} are plentiful...I came across 2 types....straight lists and finding pieces of an object to make it whole to further use in the scene. Items were easy to see and find. I only came across one easy puzzle. No click penalty in HOS...which I like...Cutscenes can be skipped, which are fixed scenes
Storyline is The Chaos God has returned and taken control of a village and its inhabitants and you have to save them and defeat him and 'bring back the light' so everything is rosy again
Graphics are good and I didn't experience any Tech difficulties in the time I played

Not too bad.
Graphics were good.
Cutscenes were long.
No map.

Graphics were not bad, but not brilliant either. Animation was pretty good. Seemed like once you finished certain scenes and didn't have to go back to them. Saves on some backtracking. Rating 3 1/2 stars; it was pretty easy for me, but I might buy it on sale as a rainy day filler. I don't think this game would be frustrating for novices. Show less

There was the final stage where I had no clue what to do and had to go in search of a walkthrough to find the bat's blood, which was a little annoying. Graphics were nice but nothing to write home about. Interesting story line and length was definitely appreciable...which is always my big thing. There are only 5 chapters but they were quite long for the most part. Some of the puzzles were a little challenging as the descriptions weren't very explicit. The map wasn't that helpful so didn't use it. The hint button not much better but still helpful in the areas where things needed to be done, which works for me. The only real issues was the "glitch" with finding a piece of the staff in one of the hogs scenes as it wasn't showing up, and that the picture sorta just stayed whenever a "film" portion of the game would play, and I had to press the skip button to get out...which always make me feel like something didn't quite finish. Still all in all a good SE. I used a freebie which is always a bonus! Show less

HOS are either the standard (with interaction# or fragmented #with interaction#. Objects are fairly easy to find. There is no rapid-click or misclick penalty - that is a plus in my book. There are a lot of HOS but not too many. This is not a game in which one finds a HOS and another five seconds later.
Loading takes a long time and you can't skip the beginning until it loads. That is frustrating to me because I want to play the game and not have to look at the same thing every single time.
I've played one extremely simple puzzle. I couldn't find any instructions for it but it took about five seconds to solve. Puzzles can be skipped.
The Hint button recharges rather slowly but not enough to make me want to hit the computer in frustration. Hints do not guide the player to a new area. It's the standard "There is nothing to do here; I should check another area" - I know some players hate that so I thought I should mention it.
Sometimes the cursor is wonky; it turns into a hand when there is nothing to pick up. When there is an area to be searched it sometimes doesn't turn into a magnifying glass. This actually happened once during the tutorial. This may be an indication of problems later on in the game. I have a feeling this game was put together quickly without much attention to details, with the exception of the graphics.
I like it and I think it's definitely worth it as a freebie #as I bought it#. It's definitely worth a try.
Happy gaming, fishies! :) Show less
