Voice Overs
Transporter Map: Shows where you are and things to do. As you move along in the game and more areas open up there is "arrows" up at the top that you click on to go forward/backward to see the rest of the map as everything isn't on one page.
Lockable Inventory bar,
3 play modes: Can be changed at any time during the game. I played the hardest mode. I still had black bar tips and sparkles for the HOS.
Journal: Holds story.
Task(s): This is down by the hint button. Can click on it to see your current task(s)
Magnify Glass: This is by the journal. When you click on it, it becomes an "evidence" board. As you move along in the game you collect evidence that goes here that must be placed. It's divided into 3 sections: motive, crime scene, suspect – and draw conclusions from it. It does show where to place them even in the hardest play mode.
GAME PLAY: This to me seemed to be an adventure lite game with some HOS and puzzles thrown in. You have a few cases that need to be solved in order to move forward and will meet up with several characters throughout the game. I won't say how many cases or characters. I will let you discover that on your own.
HOS: On the left side of the screen is a "detective kit" that has a magnifier, fingerprint, blood detection, and a flashlight. On the right side instead of at the bottom like most games are the objects to be found and are found by silhouette. Some of them are progressive silhouette (find & use).
PUZZLES: The usual run of the mill however some seemed to have a different twist/take on them. All have instructions and some either have a reset or an "undo" button and can be skipped.
VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: The setting of the game is 1920's. I thought the graphics beautifully done and colorful. right along with the cut scenes. I really liked the characters. Very intriguing and convincing. They made me want to continue moving forward to see what happens next in the game. The voice overs and lip sync excellent. The music is good and fitting to the game.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: This is my one and only criticism for this game is the black bar tips and sparkles for the hardest mode. I hope to see a custom mode from this developer in their next game offering and have it actually apply to the game. Having said this... I still thought the level of challenge was good. I really liked the HOS. I thought those were challenging.
STORYLINE: As my title says: My kind of game. A 1920's whodunit mystery. I have a fascination with this time era. Usually anything that has to do with this time era is a go for me and this game is definitely a go. I was hooked to this from the get go and I didn't stop playing until I got to the end of the game. Very engrossing and captivating. The more the story started to unfold and clues I was finding, it just made me want to keep going. This really had my attention. There is also some twist/turns to the story.
FUN FACTOR: I enjoyed the 5 hours I spent playing this game. What a pleasant surprise especially for a stand alone SE game. Overall 5 stars from me. I enjoyed this game way too much to rate it any lower than that but hope the developer here addresses the play modes in their next game offering.
Thanks Big Fish and developer for a very engrossing game. More like this one please. I also look forward to this developer's next game release. Show less

You visit a train exhibition with your children, when suddenly the old steam train takes off, with your children on it! Of course you jump into the train to save your children!
And then the fun starts! You discover this very beautiful train, with intriguing characters in it. You have to find out what happened to these people and solve the crime they were involved in. To do so, you have to search the train, travel to Paris and visit some beautiful buildings and streets. I guess later on you get to visit some other cities as well. You get an evidence-kit, with witch you can find fingerprints and bloodstains, and an evidence-board, where you store all the clues.
The setting of this game is in the 1920's in the real world, no fantasyworld behind some kind of portal. Loved that!
Graphics are very beautiful and colorful, without being only pink and purple (phew, finally!#. VOS are done really good, they really bring the story to life, with some well done lip-synch.
The story is really engrossing and captivating, and as it unfolds and you find more clues it grabs you and you want to find out more! The music is done very good and adds to the feel of the story.
The HOS are fun, you have to use your evidence kit to find bloodstains and fingerprints, and the rest of the items can be very interactive and sometimes have to be used to find other items etc.
Puzzles are known but brought in a fun way. Not too difficult but not very easy either!
I liked the level of difficulty in this game, it's not as 'childishly' easy as some games are lately. But the gameplay flows well, is logical and forwards at a nice pace, and therefore makes it very nice to play.
I really loved this game, and for a SE it's executed extremely well! Definately worth buying #or using a PCC on it#
It's downloading now and I can't wait to go on playing it!
Try it and have fun, I'm sure you'll like it! Show less

This review is based on the completed game. I didn't think I was going to like this at first glance, but I decided to play it anyway, and I'm so glad I did! I love a mystery on a train, and I love a game set in the 20's, so this game was just my thing. And since there were actually three mysteries to solve, it was three times the fun. The train is big, so there are a lot of compartments to explore and new things to see. The mysteries all take place on the train to some degree, but there are stops along the way, which really added to the game. I enjoyed the artwork and the excursions off the train. I always love games where I feel like I’m “sight-seeing,” and this one offered that. The cars on the train are interesting to explore and so are the cities. There aren’t many sound effects and very little music—what little there is never becomes obtrusive or annoying.
There is an evidence board where you gather and examine your clues. I’ve seen other games like this, but I liked the way this one was done better. It’s easy to place the items, and there are no penalties if you misplace any. There is a magnifying glass next to your inventory that flashes when you have new clues to add to your evidence board. I enjoyed using the board and figuring out each mystery.
There aren’t a lot of HOS, and I like the way those are set up. There is a detective kit that you use to search for silhouetted items. You have a flashlight, a magnifying glass (which I can’t remember using), luminal, and a fingerprint kit. I found the last two a lot of fun. The silhouettes aren’t exact matches. It may show the silhouette of an open scissor, but in the HOS, it’s actually closed. Or the silhouette may be of a high heel, but the shoe might be a flat.
The first mystery was the longest one to solve and the most detailed. It is solved both on and off the train. I enjoyed the stop in Paris and found the artwork to be beautiful. I liked all the characters. The voiceovers were good, and there were no annoying characters or story plots. It’s just a very enjoyable game. The second mystery was mostly solved on the train, so you get to explore the train farther and visit new compartments. Again, the artwork was very well done. The third mystery takes you to a new stop in Budapest. It was longer than the second mystery, but not quite as long as the first one. None of them are terribly long. I never found the game tedious or boring. Some games I’m just anxious to get them over with. Some games I never finish because I lose interest and don’t care what happens. This one—I enjoyed every minute of it, and it just kept getting better the longer I played.
I don’t think the hint feature will help you if you find yourself stuck in the game. It is mostly for finding hard-to-find items in the HOS. If you get stuck, revisit all the locations, check your diary, and look at your task. I found it to be an easy to moderately challenging game, certainly not to the point of being frustrating or impossible. If you get stuck on a puzzle, you can skip it. I didn’t have to skip any puzzles, and I never got stuck in the game, so I'm not sure the hint feature is all that important an issue. The puzzles varied in challenge, but I found them all to be enjoyable.
The ending was very satisfying and even unexpected. This was actually four great mysteries in the end, and a really pleasant game. It did have ghosts, but it wasn’t dark and demonic like some games. Those can be fun, but I am growing a little tired of them.
My only complaint about this game is that there are areas that will seem active, but they’re not. I would have liked a few more puzzles, but I was satisfied with the ones they had. But my biggest complaint about the game was that I honestly hated for it to end! I would love more games like this one. It’s one of my favorite games now—probably my second or third favorite of all time—and that’s saying a lot because I own hundreds of games. Show less

What I found was a well put together "mystery" with wonderful graphics, hidden objects games (which are different for a change) and a story line that got my attention right from the start. I really like how the main character was so natural sounding when she was trying to find her kids. She sounded "desperate" to find her kids and frustrated when thinks were going crazy.
This game is not hard and is very easy to follow. Everything you do in the game is for one purpose. . . "FIND YOUR KIDS". I just had to keep playing until I had discovered the truth to the Runaway Express. Great Game!

The art work gorgeous. I loved the era it was set in and the quirky ghosts. The music soothing and not overdone. Lots of puzzles which is a big plus for me. Although I am not a hidden object lover, these scenes were done well with almost a puzzle feel. I enjoyed them very much.
For a SE game, the game was lengthy. It just kept going with more and more turns and surprises. I love a whodunit mystery and this one did not disappoint.
