I must admit that I liked Gizmo Nonagrams better but this is still a decent mosaic series. Nonograms are known by some as pic cross, others as mosaics, they are all the same, with different themes and this one has an Asian theme and classic Asian music in shades of grays and red. There are numbers located at the top of each column and at the beginning of each row. The numbers represent how many groups are in the filled cells in either the rows or columns and each group of numbers must be divided by at least one empty cell. In other words if you are working on a 5 x 5 grid and the numbers on the first row are 2 2, then you would fill in the first two cells, leave the third cell blank and fill in the last two cells. You can use the left click to fill in the cell and the right cell to cross off the empty cell, you can also click and drag either to fill in large groups of numbers. Some cells have coins which can be used at the shop to purchase 2 starting hints (instead of one) the right to make a mistake x3 (instead of 2) or refill hints on the current level. There are 12 rooms or locations, each room has 15 levels for a total of 180 levels, enjoy! Show less

I played the entire hour of free play.

The hints were very helpful and I found myself having to use one or two during the hour of play.
The music definitely fit with the Japanese theme, but as does most music for me, it got monotonous and I turned it off. The color scheme is black and red, also very Japanese.
I believe there is a place to shop with the points you win or use them to purchase additional hints, but I'm not sure. I didn't get far enough into the game to figure this out.
This is a solid mosaic puzzle game. Show less

I am a HUGE hanjie/nanogram puzzle fan! I play these more often then playing my FAVORITE type of game, Time management. I am so happy that Big Fish has begun coming out with MORE of these type of games! I have purchased every single one of them on here and also play on a online site (which has THOUSANDS of puzzles).
I enjoy these quite a bit and they take me quite a while to complete each game b/c I MUST get a perfect on every level! That means I can't make a SINGLE mistake, must "beat the clock" and, of course, must complete the puzzle in order to get all three stars. I am a perfectionist...so if I do NOT get all three stars on the first 2 tries (without mistakes and before "time runs out") then I usually write down the solution and do it again in order to get a perfect. This means that each individual puzzle can take me up to 20 min to complete (it takes a while to write down the solution!). Therefore, each hanjie game released provides me with WEEKS of fun! I look forward to seeing more of them in the future!! Thanks BigFish!!
If anyone is interested in how I write down the solutions in order to complete the puzzle PERFECTLY, this is how I do it:
For every square that is NOT supposed to be filled in I write down an "X"....for each square that IS supposed to be filled I write down a "check."
So, say the first line has 10 empty squares, 4 "filled" squares, 5 empty squares, and then 6 "filled" squares...I would write down on a sheet of paper the following:
(I am going to use a "+" for the checked/filled in squares)
10x (4+) 5x (6+)
Then when I go back in I will know EXACTLY which squares to fill in and which ones to leave blank....providing me with a PERFECT score!
Hope that helps some of you out there! Happy gaming!! ~:) Show less

This is yet another mosaic game in the Asian Riddles series. IMO it's gotten better.
The graphics were pretty good. No color, unfortunately, which I like. It was fairly bland. Filled blocks were red. Unfilled blocks were grayed out with an "x". The graphics were pretty good. No color, unfortunately, which I like. It was fairly bland. Filled blocks were red. Unfilled blocks were grayed out with an "x". The music was appropriately Asian but no matter how low I made it in the "Options" section it continued to be quite loud. The sound effects were ok but when you made an error, it wasn't very noticeable by sound so be careful - lol.
The gist of the game is to fill in the blanks using the numbers on the graph. Once the blanks/boxes are filled in, a picture emerges. I did have trouble, most of the time, discerning exactly what the picture was and there was no "title" of the picture when you were done. So, you either knew what it was or were left in the dark, so to speak.
The first 3 or so levels were a tutorial. Afterwards, you were pretty much on your own. There are "hints" and you can only make "x" number of mistakes and then you have the choice of replaying the level or not. Each mistake you make causes you to lose a star at the end of the level. Complete a level with no errors to get 3 stars (they're not even gold - whatever).
Even with the tutorial, I would not recommend this for beginners. It took me many games, most of which frustrated me, to learn how to play this genre of game. And that included failing miserably at Asian Riddles 1 and 2 - lol.
While I did enjoy this game and found it somewhat entertaining for my brain, it will not be a purchase for me. Mainly because of the lack of coloring. IMO, had more colors been used, the pictures that emerged in a completed level would have made it much more recognizable. I do. however, recommend intermediates and experts give it a try.

I like this one with only one complaint that the numbers when crossed out are rather pale and hard to see. If you like figuring out where the numbers are, this is rather good. but it does not have multiple levels that some of these games have, so it is rather simple in comparison
I recommend this game!

For me the Fantasy Mosaics are now the bell cow of nanograms with game # 4 being the best ever.
Unfortunately the Asian Riddles just don't cut it. In this version, there are some very tricky grids but only diehard lovers of grid games can appreciate this effort. The major downside to AR3 is the complete lack of description regarding what is being created. Have I made a butterfly, or a wagon or a cow? Who knows!! There is also no story line whatsoever. Therefore there is nothing to tie the puzzles in any level together. About the only redeeming value to AR3 is the soothing Oriental string music being played. I gave up on this game half way through the demo as it is a very poor grid game. Avoid it.

This game has a totally Asian Theme going - music to meditate to, artwork in two colors, and restful attitude.

I guess this means I've been spoiled as I spent the Demo waiting for more than the red and grey color scheme and slow sleep-inducing music.
I'd prefer to replay any of the series of World Mosaic games just for the story and color.
Sorry, but I can only suggest you try both and see if you like one style more than the other.

I'm really surprised this game has a 3-Star rating.

My biggest issue with this game is that you have no idea on what object you are basing each puzzle. To me, there was much more guessing than logic. You are allowed to make only three mistakes and then you have to keep trying to solve the same puzzle until you get the right solution. Only then can you advance in the game. It's very frustrating to say the least. I played for almost 40 minutes and just couldn't take it anymore.
If you like these types of games like I normally do, try playing World Mosaics 1 thru 4, or World Riddles: Secret of the Ages. Show less
