I never imagined a Mahjong game could be this fun! Each of the 20 floors of this Hotel has 5 rooms, within each room is a very fast paced (you can opt for a relaxed mode) game of Mahjong. I never imagined a Mahjong game could be this fun! Each of the 20 floors of this Hotel has 5 rooms, within each room is a very fast paced (you can opt for a relaxed mode) game of Mahjong. As you progress, you will unlock different backgrounds and different tiles, and you will earn Trophies for achievements along the way. Each Mahjong game is timed unless you opted for the Relaxed untimed version, and you can earn up to 3 gold stars per game. You can replay any game or room as often as you like to try for a better score.

There are five different types of Mahjong available, the faster you match tiles, the faster the bonus meter fills. When the bonus meter is full, you will earn the bonus prize shown at the top of the meter such as a bonus shuffle, more time or more points:

-Classic: This is the traditional mahjong style where you match two identical tiles that are free, a free tile has no other tile blocking the sides or on top. Unless you have chosen the Relaxed mode, all tiles must be removed before the timer runs out.
-Freecell: Some tiles can be placed into available silver squares in order to unlock other tiles. The tiles in the silver squares are removed when you match them with a tile on the board.
-Triple: This is my favorite game, which is a variation of Classic, only you have to match 3 identical tiles instead of two. This sounds really easy, but I found myself panicking a bit as I tried to find three of the same tiles before the timer ran out.
-Split: You must match tiles that are in the golden square with tiles that are on the board. You cannot match tiles just on the board itself, the gold square tiles must be included.
-River: You make matches of two identical colored tiles in which a line could connect the two. This line can only have two corners at the most. This sounds crazy complicated, but it's actually really easy because when you click on the first tile, an imaginary line will appear which can help you decide which tiles are available to accomplish this task. I have played this version before, but never thought of it as a mahjong game until now.

This elevator only goes up, and sheds a new light onto an old and somewhat mundane game. So get your Mahjong game on and enjoy the ride to the 20th floor! Show less

Hotel Mahjong is actually an old game, one I had on my old PC and lost when the hard drive crashed. It was one of my all-time favourite Mahjong games, regularly replayed. I am so happy to be able to get it again from BF.

It is true to say that older games can sometimes offer more enjoyment than newer games. Hotel Mahjong has longevity, variety and challenge. It is also very addictive.

Ride the lift to the 20th floor, playing 5 variations of Mahjong. . You can play for 1, 2 or 3 stars depending on how you want to challenge yourself and if you are going for achievements. I remember I used to play the 20 floors once, then go back over low score rooms to try for 3 stars. I have achieved that in the past and am looking forward to trying again!

As you progress through the main game, you unlock additional games, casino, recreation and roof terrace. If memory serves me correctly, roof terrace is unlocked after the 20th floor. These additional games offer more levels across all 5 variations and can be played in normal, hard or expert modes. Recreation is untimed.

So, 100 levels in the main game, 3 additional games - Mahjong heaven! Show less

What makes this game so much fun is that we get to play some variations on Mahjong that aren't normally seen, including "Matching Three Tiles" (instead of the traditional two), "Split", and "River", which I thought was awfully darn hard at first, but which I started really looking forward to. The boards definitely get harder as you go up to the higher floors, along with lower time allowed, so there's really quite a challenge by the time you get to the 20th floor. But it's a fun challenge! I have no complaints about this game except perhaps that I never found any kind of "undo" button, but that didn't seem to negatively affect my game play. Definitely a fun game which has already given me hours of relaxation and challenge! Show less

I remember a solitaire game like this mahjong game, where you go to different hotel rooms, maybe it is by the same company. It looked similar. Anyway, I find it a lot of fun. :)

It took BG a long, long time to dig this old game out. It is my favorit Mahjong game and I have missed it a lot. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have - for years.

This looked like a bright and cheerful, good, fun game. I liked this one, but, couldn't concentrate on the game, with having to watch the timer. Spoiled the game, for me. Would definitely buy, if there was option, for untimed.
Good for gamers, who enjoy trying to beat the clock, though.

But there are 2 downers for me one major and the other nearly so. First, there's no "untimed" option I could find and the timer is quite fast even at first level. The other downer is the small numbers on the tiles which make matching hard for non-perfect vision. There seem also to be several tile sets but only 1 #standard# is available in early levels #8 or 9?#. But the game is decent and if the negatives aren't a problem for you your mahjong desires may well be fulfilled by the many, many games herein and the variations. I suggest giving it a try to judge. This is your typical Mahjong with a fun, new twist. As the name indicates, you are playing in a 'hotel' with each of 5 doors on each floor being 1 of several types of Mahjong games. You can get up to 3 stars for each successful game ..... but you can also 'time out' if you don't finish the game quickly enough. Too bad ............ so sad. That was the deal-breaker for me.

This is obviously from the makers of Hotel Solitaire because, except for the title of the game and the type of game being played, all the precepts are the same. Work your way up to the Rooftop by successfully 'passing' each door and each floor on your way up .... and up ..... and up!

I own several Mahjong games from BFG. Unfortunately, I tend to dislike games that don't have an 'untimed' or 'relaxed' feature. I like my Mahjong games (as well as other games such as solitaire, riddlers, etc.) to be more relaxing ..... without the stress of having specific goals to meet that might be impossible .... for me. There really isn't a storyline here but you don't need one at Hotel Mahjong in order to have fun!

I would recommend this for intermediates and experts as opposed to beginners because I don't think the tutorial leans towards a beginner.

Jump right into the amazing game play at the Hotel Solitaire and ................
