It took me several minutes to figure this game out, the instructions are way too vague. Once I got the hang of it, wow! There are 30 different Achievements to earn, some of which are hilarious, such as Serial Killer which is earned when you explode 5 enemy Mushrooms. In a nutshell, you begin each level with a Mushroom Commander that is already placed on the grid somewhere. You usually start out with 3 Mushroom moves as indicated on the top left of the grid board, and you select where you want to grow the next shrooms, either to the left, or right, above or below the original mushroom, you can't skip a cell or move diagonally. The goal is to move the mushrooms to each Dew Drop on the board, each Dew Drop you click upon will give you three more mushroom moves. This sounds simple, and it really is, but you will need to grow the mushrooms in a specific pattern, or risk not having enough moves to collect all of the Dew Drops. There are 3 stars placed randomly on the board as well, to collect them, you will need to grow the shrooms up to the star (s) and click on them, which does count as moves. You don't have to collect all of the stars, but if you don't collect enough, you won't be able to progress by unlocking the next level pack, and you will have to go back to those levels to earn enough stars to continue. You can replay the level as often as you want to try new strategies or different patterns. You don't have to grow the mushrooms in a continuous line, you can branch off from any mushroom grown at any time. The fun part comes into play as various rocks and obstacles are added as well as enemy shrooms, enjoy! Show less

Mushroom Commander is the gripping, immersive, edge-of-the-seat action sequence of a game this world desperately desired.
The gameplay is set up to be balanced to give you undeniable fun with the facade of a remarkable challenge. Underestimating the spaces you can move is the developers' genius way of inducing a feeling of terror and helplessness, but is beautifully contrasted by the space bubbles found on the grass - an almost literal breath of fresh air into the swollen yet determined lungs that are the player. Verily, a fantastic test of human tenacity and willpower.
Without a doubt, Mushroom Commander's action-driven story line is beyond a level of simple "writing"; it's the incarnation of raw emotion bled onto paper and etched into the elegant coding that is the base language of this incredible game. Words truly cannot contain the feelings the writers convey through actions within the game.
This game is, by far, the pinnacle equilibrium of excitement, thrill, and all out joy.
Mushroom Commander is the voice of our generation. Show less

As the title says, it is a unique puzzle game.
The graphics are too cute. Sound effects fun. Can't comment on music. Good replay. Had to replay certain levels multiple times to beat them.
Game does have a "solve" button if one chooses to use it.
No timer.

This is a 98% strategy game. I say 98% vs 100% because on some levels, there are hidden items. Until you play the level, you have no idea what, if anything, is under the "stone" wall sections.
This was such a unique offering. Really enjoyed it. Hope more of this type and other unique puzzle games are offered. Show less

1# You can only grow mushrooms next to mushrooms. Available spaces are highlighted.
2) Planting a mushroom uses up a mushroom from your stock at the top of the screen.
3) Collecting water adds mushrooms to your stock at the top of the screen.
4) Collect stars to advance levels.
5) Level ends once you've collected all the WATER, even if you have stars left on the board.
6) Clicking on either water or stars also plants, and therefore COSTS, a mushroom.
7) If you're really, really, stuck, you can skip the level by clicking on an icon. I think it's a key, but I didn't use it.
I'm sure there'll be more rules once the enemy mushrooms start showing up, but to get you going in the game, those are the rules you need to remember.
Right from the beginning, you need careful strategy to hit the water bubbles in the correct order, or you'll run out of mushrooms before you reach the next water bubble.
The game slowly introduces you to new items and challenges, such as 'extra bubble' spaces and stone walls. You can repeat the level as often as you want.
I'm thrilled to see a game that isn't just another #no matter how well done# hidden object game. I'm hoping this will be one of the better type of strategy games--a few rules that lead to a complex and challenging level of play. Show less

GRAPHICS: 4 out of 5. Bright, colourful, easy to see. Slightly harder to make out the details when the playing field gets bigger, but that's a minor quibble. You have three screen sizes you can choose from at the options screens.
SOUND: 4 out of 5. Not overwhelming; has volume levels for both music and effects. Nothing exciting.
GAMEPLAY: 2 out of 5. Here's where it has a problem. The instructions are the bare minimum and it might take a little trial and error to figure your way. Remember this is a puzzle game and not everything is handed to you on a silver platter. Otherwise, it's basic point and click.
FUN FACTOR: 4 out of 5. Once you get through the 30 second tutorial, you're on your own. Plant mushrooms in horizontal or vertical lines from "the commander" to get to the water drops. Each drop = 3 more mushrooms. Advance to higher levels through gaining stars. You don't have to grab them to end a level, but you should try to. Grabbing all the drops ends the level. You can replay a level to try new strategies and get those stars you missed. There's tons of achievements to be had. A good little puzzler that really makes you plan ahead to conserve your forces.
OVERALL: 14 out of 20. *thumbs up* Try the demo. It's not another HOG, so if you're tired of those (not matter how awesome they might be), you should at least give this one a shot. Enjoy! :) Show less

At first this poorly (to say the least) documented game seems very pointless and even frustrating. But persist and you may find it to be a challenging and very doable maze-type puzzler. The tutorial is nearly useless as much is left to player trial-and-error, but once you've figured out the rules of the mazes and that the first several levels have only bubbles, stars and stones and no other obstacles, the fun can begin. I'm still working on what the enemies do, but I've found you need to gather single and double (a few on each level# bubbles for "troops", and stars #optional) for points and level keys. A "random level" main menu option enables you to see if your guesses about play rules work. "Easy" isn't in this puzzler but fun and challenge are. If mazes are your thing and you can overcome the poor tutorial frustration, this game may be for you. Give it a try. Show less

Weird. Very few instructions, and nothing in the way of telling you the goal. And suddenly <poof> I'm dead.
Anyway, I worked it out.
The graphics are simple and the concept is okay.
It's okay, but I got bored after 10 minutes. It reminds me of countless games you can get all over the internet for free.
Pay for it? No thanks!!

I'm not impressed. This game comes without a tutorial, no instructions and somehow appears unfinished. I'm lost for words that is how bad this game is. I'm not paying for developers who have me guessing what their game is supposed to be about.
