Wolves are viciously attacking people unprovoked every night, and a blood moon is rising! The townspeople are frightened and began accusing thy neighbors of being ..... (insert epic music) a werewolf! Ellis Cote has summoned your detective services after she was brutally attacked by a wolf in her own coach, fearful that her own neighbor, Martha is a werewolf. Ellis believes so strongly in werewolves that she actually pricks herself with silver pins to keep from turning into one of these hideous creatures! You came prepared with your official magnifying glass and an analyzer. Each person you meet gets the full magnifying glass inspection which gives you clues allowing you to make character assessments and even tell where they were at recently. Your analyzer is used to identify substances that you are unfamiliar with, the analyzer will ask questions such as, is it a liquid, gas or solid. Don't worry, if you guess incorrectly you simply try again with a different answer. You will find collectible story pages that tell of a legend about the first werewolf, Lycaon, once a king of Arcadia, until Zeus turned him into half man, half wolf because of his cruelty.
The hidden object scenes are a mixture of finding 12 alike items such as metal objects, and placing items back into the scene in their correct location. The HOS are repeated twice and you have the option of playing a mini game instead where you have to match two alike tiles whose paths aren't blocked by any other tile. You can choose Casual or Hard modes for each mini game. Some mini games require you to make matches by flipping two tiles at a time, if you choose incorrectly the tile will switch locations. My personal favorite was the Blackberry game where you had to choose which blackberry to start with and click on the directional arrow with the goal of course to create a path that will cover all blackberries in one continuous path.
This game has a great story and entertaining games and puzzles, however, in my opinion, this Collectors Edition doesn't have enough backbone to make me choose this edition, I'm going to wait until the Standard Edition is released to make my purchasing decision, enjoy! Show less

Magnifying Glass
You can use your magnifying glass to give people the "once-over" when you first meet them to see what you can find out about them.
HOGs
Just the right number for us puzzlers #more puzzle than HOG#, but they are all different, and all interactive in some way or if you prefer, optional mini-game.
Collectibles
Yes they are there, but in limited quantity.
Analyzer
Some of your inventory items are unknown until you use the analyzer, answer some questions about the object, and then you can discover what the items are, and use them.
Inventory
Lots and lots of inventory, and some items can be reused.
Games/Puzzles #without giving anything away#
Memory Match, fit in pieces, select the path to get all the items until you've selected them all, slider #in a criss-cross# game, and step on tiles only once.
Map
Navigatable map which is very easy to understand.
Difficulty
Three levels of difficulty for the game with or without bells and whistles turned on, but the mini-games give you the option of making them harder or easier.
Morphing Objects
Not saying there weren't any, but if there were, they were very well hidden.
Strategy Guide
Guide had three chapters with a page for the collectibles so far.
Loved the little nods from time to time to previous games. Can you tell what I thought of the game? yes... yes... YES! Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Maybe I'm just in a gaming sort of mind, but I loved it. Show less

The Shadow Wolf series is back and this time with Under the Crimson Moon the fourth game in the series. Unfortunately, IMHO, nothing could top Curse of the Full Moon and I was disappointed by the time the third game appeared. As the game begins we immediately become aware that things have changed and that there are some exciting gameplay enhancements coming our way. The game begins as you receive a letter from Ellis Cote who asks you to help solve the mysterious deaths in her town. When you arrive at her estate you are greeted by a vicious pack of wolves that are soon subdued by a horrendously ugly and monstrous werewolf. After you gain access to the house and finally meet Ellis you jump right into the investigation. As you move forward with the adventure, solving the mystery of the werewolf is becomes quite interesting.
The graphics are excellent and typical of ERS games but I do wish that the artists would get rid of the mistiness that is often present in some scenes. Aside from that, the ERS artistic team is very gifted when it comes to creating the characters in their games and brings them to life so that they don’t appear cartoonish and flat, which is one of the reasons that I have always loved ERS games. Where Shadow Wolf Under the Crimson Moon falls short is with the voiceovers, some of which are not very good and not at all typical of what I think the character should sound like. In addition to the out of character voiceovers, ERS has dropped the lip-syncing that made the first Curse of the Full Moon so incredible and had elevated ERS to a top-tier game developer. Alas, times seem to be changing and we no longer see the realism that lip-syncing adds to a game. That being said, the remainder of the sound package is very good and has excellent ambient effects.
The game has the tools that we find in most HOPA games with a diary that keeps track of not only our notes but of the evidence we find as well. We have a new tool in this game called an analyzer which we use quite often to identify “unknown” objects. Use of the analyzer is sort of a mini-game each time the unknown object appears. There is a transportable map but it does not indicate areas where you have objectives.
Under the Crimson Moon has a variety of interactive HOPs that are very typical of the types found in most other ERS HOPA games, but recently the developer has added the option of switching to alternative puzzles if you do not want to find items in the HOPs. The optional puzzle in this game is a match type puzzle reminiscent of a flow type game. Some of the puzzles I encountered in the game can be frustrating if you don’t take the time to really think about them. Since demo time is limited, I generally skip puzzles that I can’t immediately solve so that I don’t waste valuable gameplay time. That being said, most of the puzzles are the type that I enjoy.
In Shadow Wolf Under the Crimson Moon CE we earn achievements and have various assortments of collectibles to find. The rest of the CE package is standard fare and contains nothing exceptional so it is basically a personal choice as to whether you go for the CE or wait until the SE is released.
For me Under the Crimson Moon was an immediate purchase since I generally enjoy every game from ERS and they seldom have a misstep in presenting the games that I find ultimately enjoyable. Of course I am a big ERS fan and not everyone agrees with my opinion of their games. I have no hesitation in saying that this game is a step up from more recent offerings from this developer and recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. This is the 4th in the series and possible my favorite. The earlier games in this saga may be a bit more challenging or difficult to play than this one. That said, this is a Creepy, creative HOPA with a great story. Great graphics, voice overs, very little ho's and fairly easy puzzles. Bonus game doesn't warrant CE, you may want to wait for the SE. I couldn't wait because I love ERS....

ERS has released a lot of boring, cute, and easy games lately, but this latest release shows us what they can really do, and they did an excellent job with the latest installment of Shadow Wolf Mysteries!
Well, ERS has ruined almost all of their series with the boring, cute, and easy gameplay as I said above, and Shadow Wolf is one of the few series they haven't ruined, so I was nervous about this one. But this is definitely not one of those games, as we see creepiness such as blood, death, and werewolves, which were nicely done in 3D!
The gameplay is average, not Eipix easy or Elephant hard, which I liked. There are 3 difficulty modes, as well as a custom mode so you can set it to your preferences. There are a lot of cool things in the game, like the Analyzer, which has you answering simple questions to figure out what an unknown item is. There's also a magnifying glass feature, where you can look at each character and make observations and deductions, which are recorded in a special spot in your journal.
The hidden object scenes are well done, and vary from the list type to the interactive type, which ERS started. The puzzles are also good but not terribly original.
The storyline seems interesting, as well. Who is the werewolf?
This is a very entertaining ERS game, and it is extremely well done, if not one of their best games. But be sure to try it for yourself to see if you like it or not. Show less

Well, what a great addition to the Shadow Wolf series. I have 2 already and cannot believe I missed number 3 somehow (is downloading as I type!)

A nice long demo (90 mins and I played for 88) gets you really into the story and there are lots of 'jump' moments to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I won't, as ever, go into the story detail as you need to experience all the surprises and perplexities of this tale. Suffice to say, if you have Cynophobia, then do not go near this!
Game features and CE bling are very good.
* Map: jumpable and shows location, active areas and completed areas
* Magnifier: to use on each new character and find clues (I liked this a lot!)
* Analyser tool: Found this a bit pointless as it was obvious what most of the substances were, but an extra bit of fun
* Achievements to earn (15)
* Werewolf related artefacts to find
* A blank book: not sure what this is yet
* Three levels of play: Casual/Advanced/Hard
* Strategy Guide: Never use it so no info
Characters are good and convincing (lack of lip synch doesn't bother me)
Lots of ambient sound, especially howling and barking
A variety of HOSs, though each is revisited very quickly. Lots of good interactive features and some head scratching required. Also some items are a bit picky so if you are certain you are right, keep trying!
Puzzles are pretty straightforward and you can opt for a harder challenge.
This is a definite buy for me and playing the trial is highly recommended. Show less

This Game has made me jump more than one time when the werewolf appears! The cut movie clips are done so beautifully, along with the Voices, and Graphics. I really love the mystery of the Game finding out who we can, or cannot trust, and who will die next and the motive for killing.
I love using the analyser to identify objects.
I usually groan when I see another hidden object screen , but ERS kept every hidden object screen a joy to play! This is not just a long random list with a few interactive objects but majority of the objects. I appreciate the choice for all if we don't want to play hidden object screen , there is another Game. I haven't played the other game because the hidden object screens are so much fun! I seldom need a clue. Thankfully this Game gives us much interactivity it is not just one hidden object screen after another. This Game has a mystery to solve and the interactivity makes it feel more like adventure Game, which is my favourite Game.
The map is very beautiful graphics where we can easily see what has been finished and what area has not been entered yet.
I love the Mini Games, I have skipped a few because of impatience just wanting to get on with the story but the majority I enjoyed playing and won them.
I enjoy the collectable items we find as they are placed in a special room, describing why the object is important.
The Characters are interesting and beautifully detailed even there clothes. I enjoy inspecting them for clues with the magnifying glass.
This is a Game that deserves a Game of the Year award. I hope it is a very long Game because it will be sad to see it end.
I highly recommend the Game if you like a Game that gives you a unexpected scare. The werewolf does not look like the standard image that never looks scary to me. The image of the werewolf really looks frightening.
This Game is gorgeous! I also enjoy the music chosen for it .
If I could I would rate it 10 stars!

Even though there was little movement with the characters, they were beautifully done. The dog was cute, too. The story flowed well, the minigames were just right. The "good, bad" werewolves added a nice sidebar to a well written murder mystery. Sure had me guessing!
