Once upon a time Snow Leopards lived peacefully amongst the villagers. The crops grew and the village flourished until outsiders came and pushed them off their land. Since then an eternal winter has fallen upon the village. Something or someone is controlling these fierce leopards who are attacking anyone who crosses their path. When the local Veterinarian witnesses her personal house cats abandon their warm cozy beds to follow the snow leopards into the wilderness she knows something is wrong, very wrong. Can she stop these big cats or will she become their next meal?
The graphics are very well done, lip syncs could use a little polishing, but the story makes up for that. This is certainly a short demo, but it's long enough to begin to understand the story and you are going to want more, which is the whole point of a demo. Some of the inventory items have + signs indicating that that items needs further action to fix the item or combine it with another inventory item. There are several modes of difficulty to choose from including a customizable mode which is one of my favorite features.
The Hidden Object Scenes are varied, find 12 bottles, interactive list finds and even placing items into the scene in their logical place. The mini games were a bit too easy in my opinion such as sliding dancers on a jewelry box until they were in their color matching slot, or changing several cubes until they all turned green. This isn't a difficult game to play, there doesn't seem to be any surprises, every action you need to do seems logical meaning you will probably know right away which inventory item to use.
I wasn't too impressed with the Collectors Edition which has 25 hidden sketches, achievements, a Cats Shelter room, concept art, music, videos, a built in strategy guide and a bonus game. I think this edition is a better choice, enjoy! Show less

Fierce Tales is back and this time we are dealing with felines who seem to be controlled by feline "pied piper." Recently, there have been many snow leopard attacks in the area and even the domesticated cats are behaving strangely. We play the game as the local veterinarian who is soon embroiled in the mystery.
There are four modes of gameplay, casual, advanced, hardcore, and then custom. The graphics are exceptionally clear. The overall artwork is excellent. Kudos to the artistic team for creating some of the most realistic animals I have ever encountered in a game: from the artwork down to the movement of the felines, it is all exceptional. Now, if I could only say the same about the voiceovers. Unfortunately they are just okay, and I didn’t care for the voice of the older lady, nor did I care for the falsetto voice of the Inspector that was so out of character. The other thing about the sound package that literally drove me crazy is the constant tone that played whenever I found a useful item. Devs please give me a break – I know when I have found an item and don’t need a trill, a bell or a tone to let me know I have done so! The sound of that tone became so annoying (particularly in an HOS when I was finding one item after another) that I eventually had to turn it off, which was very disappointing because I lost the ambient effects as well.
Early in the game we find the interactive, color-coded map that helps navigate the terrain but I did not find a diary. The map has tabs for achievements and the sketchbook which is most likely connected to the collectible drawings or notes we will find. There is a separate task button off to the right next to the hint.
We have a variety of HOPS included in this game, although some items are very small and thus difficult to find. It has been a long time since I have played a game with a click penalty in an HOS but there is one in this game. If we happen to click three times on an incorrect item, the arrow freezes. In a game where some objects are unidentifiable, it is annoying to have a click penalty. Unfortunately there is no option to disable the click penalty in the custom mode, which is something I think the dev should consider in future games.
The Fierce Tale series has been one of my favorites and, IMHO, this is the best one in the series. Sound issues aside, by the time I finished the game, I had the opinion that this was one of the best games I had played in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and loved the storyline. The leopards were absolutely awesome and realistic. What a wonderful game! Even though I enjoyed the game, as always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. Show less

I demoed the CE version and really liked it. The following is my review of the CE (just delete the collectibles and you have the SE version):
"Hi all. Wow, talk about a short demo...why give us 90 minutes when we have 63 left at the end of the demo! Naturally, I have the first 2 in this series and liked them both. This one is much of the same, but a new story line, although a bit muddy in the beginning. The graphics are very clean and clear. Yes there is blue, but it is night (so far# and not over-powering like most of the others who use the color. Animation is excellent, right down to the movements of animals and faces. Game play was very good, very smooth and no glitches. Voice overs are also very good and the character voices don't sound like they are reading a page of lines. Music is quiet and rather soothing, until it needs to make you pay attention to what is about to happen. Sound FX are very good, e.g., wind, crunching snow, creaking doors, fire, etc. There is a jump map, with areas well identified and areas of interests marked accordingly.
HOPs are very well done and change up as you go, from silhouettes to standard words to place this item, etc. Very clean and clear and items not too difficult to find. You don't just click around, you have to think about it first. Puzzles are not difficult, but do make you think and plan ahead in most cases. Part of the puzzles are the storyboards, which I find fun. They are not difficult at all and they do give you more insight into the story. Hint system isn't too slow and is quite helpful, including transporting you to your next location #I really like this feature).
The only collectibles I found are sketches that are suppose to give you more information about Snowville, but I haven't looked at them yet. I agree with other reviewers, it would have been a nice addition to the collectibles to add cats...maybe morphing cats. Ooh, I like that idea.
It is not a particularly challenging game, but it has an interesting story and I was drawn in fairly quickly. Anyway, I like this game and find the need to play it out and see where it is going. Pretty sure I know, but I am enjoying it and am going to add it to my collection. I believe all levels of players will like this one."
Give it a try, I think you just might like this one. Thanks for the reviews. Show less

I thought this was a fun game. It is not difficult. The HOS were good, a nice variety. The puzzles were easy. I wish it had gone on longer. I liked the story but when it started with the house cats I thought they might play more of a role. I found it just right for a lazy afternoon's fun.

The story opens with an old woman who is standing in your home. Your HOME, without knocking, with a sick cat she is leaving your character (who is a vet). Done. Who is the old woman and what is her place in the story? Already, I think I may have a clue and the game hasn't even started.
The graphics were good - not great. Haven't found a dev yet who can "get" that nightime/dusk without that over-using the magic blue crayon. But I liked the snow and the snow leopards. The voice overs were ok. Not great. The lip syncing at the very beginning when the t.v. report was on was out of "sync" and it made the start of the game very disconcerting and "off".
There are 4 levels of difficulty, including "custom". There are a LOT of changes to your game play you can make in "custom" mode, including opting out of the tutorial and disengaging the skip penalty. One reviewer in the CE said that couldn't be done but, yes, it can. And so can a multitude of other things. There is transportable map, which shows where you are and where tasks need to be completed. It actually shows SEVERAL areas where tasks need to be completed, I like that a lot. I did not see a journal. And, your being a vet, I was surprised that your "vet medicine box" was an Inventory item only used once. Missed a bet there DEVS.
The HOGs were the same old, same old that we are used to seeing and I know there are more innovative ideas out there. Same with the mini games, same old, same old games. Nothing here to make this game more enjoyable.
IMO, albeit the demo being extremely short, the story had no flow or cohesion, just a lot of things going on that were related only by the snow leopards but not a "story". For instance, why does the sheriff only show up once? Why do you have a walkie-talkie at the beginning of the game and it's never used during the demo? Why are you in dangerous scenes with snow leopards but never attacked? Even at the end of the demo when it SEEMS you are attacked, you aren't.
I wanted to love this game as a CE but I didn't. I waited for the SE and hoped to "like" it more, but I really don't. I wanted to give it a stretch of 4 stars, but I can't. IMO, with the holidays coming up and the game choices probably being better, I can't even justify using a coupon for this game. That's really too bad. I own the first in this series, but after that, it went downhill progressively. Again, too bad.
This is a great game for beginners. Experts, I think, will be disappointed in both the story AND the ease of the game play. I do encourage everyone to try the demo for yourself. After all, this is just MY interpretation of the game. I do, however, appreciate everyone who takes the time to read it. Thank you.

I know this is just a game, but you'd think the developers would take at least a shot at some authenticity. Mixed cultures abound. Roman columns and arches in a Native American (NA) setting. Mixed NA cultures - Mayan, Aztec, Inuit, you name it, it's there. What a mess. I guess if you ignore this mess, the game is OK.
